Oh I don't throw hard cash away but I am a NIGHTMARE for wasting money by forgetting to cancel things or not querying charges etc, I weep with frustration over it often!! £25 quid today for not checking to see if there was a penalty for cancelling an insurance policy before taking out a different one......

There was nothing we could do, we tried finding someone to see about cameras in the car park but couldn't find anyone, we filed it with the police but as it was just cash there wasn't much hope. I didn't talk to him for days, I wouldn't mind but I kept telling him about putting stuff under his leg!

I left a 20 and a fiver in jeans that I then accidently put on a 90 wash. The bank couldn't take them they were too damaged, had to send them off to bank of England.

My gran was known for saving money, she would have savings funds for loads of different things and had a distrust of banks.

Clearing her house after she died we found around 16 thousand pounds hidden around the house in small batches.

It was between plates in the kitchen cupboards, under carpets but thought the best was in a money bag inside a sleeve of an old coat held on with a safety pin. Thankfully we found it but still wonder how much of it we missed.

Nan you were truly one of a kind!

I used to collect shiny pennies. I wanted to make something out of them but wasn't sure what. So I scavenged for more shiny pennies and eventually a lovely lady from the bank orde_ed me some from the Royal Mint.

I made a picture that says SKINT in the tails side and I varnished them then filled in the background with the heads side and left them to tarnish. It's pretty cool if I do say so myself.

Bank gave me a form, filled it in and sent off with the remains of the cash, they comfort genuine notes and put the money into bank account. Took 10 days but better than losing it.x

Yeah... the lovely lady at the bank remembe_ed me and when someone handed in a bag of new pennies she rang me to see if I wanted them. I thought it was so cute that she thought of me that I now have a bag of pennies sat in a dark cupboard waiting for me to be inspi_ed!

Money might survive a wash nowadays but that isnt the problem. Washing powders often contain chemicals which make things fluoresce under UV (clothes look whiter and brighter in daylight) - Shop UV testers would probably show the notes as iffy.

Clea_ed out the boot tidy in my car and found an envelope with £500 in it, the money I had lost 3weeks before my wedding for the rings, we had to settle for a couple of Elizabeth duke ones, for the wedding day, and collect the actual rings when I got paid, turns out it was an omen, someone was telling me not to do it lol

And last summer I got out my beach bag ready for our holiday and found €200 left from the holiday the year before!!
