Who do you really admire or have (had) as a hero, that's not from the usual pool?

I've had Divine, the transgender actress and singer, for some time. Ballsy, funny and unique.

Professor Stephen Hawking. One of the brightest human beings to have ever lived, an inspirational mind and a hero to many disabled people like myself.

Wymondham

Sir Ernest Shackleton. Polar explorer, missed his ship home by a day, set out to sail to South Georgia for a ship to rescue the remainder of his party: After a voyage of a couple of hundred miles through some of the worst weather the Southern Oceans can produce, he and his small crew landed on South Georgie THEN walked over the top of the island across glaciers and mountains before finally reaching the British whaling station at Grytviken. A rescue mission was undertaken, and arriving back some months, after leaving them he was able to return home having lost none. Incredible man.
