Would you invite someone to play in your home if it was dirty?

Had a few meets over the fast few weeks where the people hadnt even cleaned the house.Dirt and dust all over the place.

Didnt play,didnt stay long..

Horrible.

I don't live in a pig pen so I certainly wouldn't play in one. 99% of my meets are in my home as I know it's clean.

Good for you you didn't stay: no reason to live like a slob!

There is no excuses for dirty scanky homes these days.

Like someone said, if their home is a shithole it makes you wonder what their hygiene standards are like on a personal level.

Bieng untidy is one thing but dirty is another ,i couldnt and wouldnt even entertain the thought of getting jiggy with someone who shows no care in their home and surroundings.

If anyone calls at mine you can guarentee its clean at all times and if ...anyone stays...the bedding is spotless along with myself.

Thers a big difference between dirty and untidy, I would leave a meet if the House was filthy I've done it in the past, nothing worse than a filthy smelly Home, untidy because of Kids etc I can understand but not dirty

For a new meet the house is cleaned from top to bottom, thank goodness its only a shoebox and only takes about an hour to do, fresh bedding, toilet bleached (lots of), everything tided away.

If I have met people before, and they know me, and know that my house is generally clean and tidy im not so anal about it, I will still put on fresh bedding and clean, but I dont worry about the odd book or pair of shoes lying about.

My mother was verging on OCD with housework so I was always brought up in a very clean and tidy home. I never left things around because she couldnt cope with it. It had a lot of disadvantages; I never had a party cos she wouldnt let lots of kids into the house, we couldnt use towels, as she wouldnt have the folds messed up, we had to use older towels that were stored out of sight. I have picked up some of her habits ie; I cant have people touching my curtains after Ive opened them in the morning, cant bear to have them disturbed (im even worse with the blinds). But I am nowhere near as bad as my mother. That said, I cant rest until the house is tidy.

I remember when I moved into my flat... anyone could pop in any time they liked. I was proper house proud. Now, not so much. I hate housework. However, I can do a 'mum's coming' clean in about 30 minutes if I really have to but give me some notice, don't just turn up or you take me as you find me.

If I'm expecting guests then my place is clean and tidy but don't be running your finger along the top of pictures etc. and expect it to come back to you dust free!

hi did the mums coming round cleaning today, went to the shops. Came back to find coal over the kitchen to the living room. Ian putting some coal on the fire !, Mum walking in.

I felt so angry.

I shout at Ian only for my own mother to have a go at me for shouting at Ian.

There are very few exceptions for having an unclean house. If your well bodied and physically able then its good exercise and good practice to maintain your living quarters. To invite people round and not at least clean up is not acceptable as I see it.

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

no thats why i dont invite people here because i cant be arsed to clean up lmao

seriously tho, dirtys one thing untidys another, having 3 kids i have no show home, theres usually shoes on the floor, clothes dumped on the bathroom floor because its to much effort to put them in the wash bin, several cups in the sink because we have to have a clean cup every time we need a drink and are allergic to washing up lol the usual stuff you get with kids i guess, but all of it can be put right quick enough, most people with children will have a 'lived in' home but that dont mean it needs to be dirty

Slightly off topic but :

We know a couple who meet friends on a regular basis, alternating between houses. Their home is always immaculate but when it's their turn to entertain the lady of the house is up at the crack of dawn with dusters & every type of cleaning product known.

The fella jokes that he's woken with a mop up his a**e.

Along with the big clean, there's a trip to the hairdressers, tanning salon & often a new dress involved.

You always know when they are having a meet, you can see the sunlight reflecting off their windows 5 miles way :0).

Eurgh I always look at background pics I remember one blokes 'puter room' who's curtains were hanging by about three hooks, damp patched wallpaper peeling off and the posters of naked women tacked to the other walls.... its as if he had never left the room and nobody had entered since he was about 14. I wonder where Mrs Bates oops sorry his mum was to let him leave it in that state?

He had locked her in the cellar so he could have his wicked way on Fab. But it does shock me that some people can be so dirty,I guess I have a bit of OCD so I like everything clean and tidy.

Nooooo. I HAVE to clean if someones coming over (i'll occasionally do it other times too )

The problem with our house is that it's so big and old, you can clean all weekend and there are still bits that don't look clean

Usually when we have someone over, it looks like a tip after 5 minutes anyway (empty wine bottles, shoes everywhere etc)
