Hey all,

So I'm kind of looking for some help and advice at the moment from others who might have more life experience than me.

I've spent the last 5 years working all over the world in cities and towns and absaloutly LOVE my job. Because of the constant travelling I've never set down roots anywhere so technically live at home still.

I've recently had surgery on my arm and have been signed off of work for three months whilst it recovers and I'm living at home with the parents, it's a field in the middle on nowhere and I can't drive. I've kind of got myself into a depressed state and honestly don't see the point in getting up in a morning. I just don't know what I'm meant to do?! What do you do when you have no friends in the area (they all moved away) no money as I'm out of work and no job....

I know to most the idea of three months off would be great.... But for me, I just don't see the point in my days.

It's only three months and it will be over in no time. Try taking up a new hobby. Maybe you could start learning a language. These three months of forced concentration could be all you need to finally do something or learn something you've always wanted to but never had the time for.

I'm sure things will brighten up for you as time goes on. I hope you find something you truly enjoy.

Your life isn't so bad. What I do is think of people with much worse lives thank me. The small boy lives upstairs whose mum was found dead. The old man, with no relatives, who has been housebound for years. The 55 yr old friend who died from cancer riddling his body. You will be fine once your arm is mended and you're back to work.

Do you have a job to go back to after the three months are up?

Thanks for all your ideas,

I don't have a job to go to at the moment, I work contracts and it's a little soon to look yet. So that's a worry also

You clearly have access to the Internet so the world is your oyster.

What books have you always wanted to read.

What films/TV shows have you always wanted to see

what skills either work or hobby related have you wanted to acquire

Don't spend hours on your laptop or staring at books. Unless it's too muddy to go out, have a couple of walks and think about how you're going to make your life better, once your arm is mended.

Had the same issue in 2013. Left my cheating X 2 weeks before I needed an op on my stomach, had nowhere to go so had to head back home to my parents. Couldn't drive for 6 weeks after my op so had to rely on "dad's taxis" it's hard to not fall into the pit of despair which was made even harder that I had a second op 8 weeks after my first one. I found taking myself out for a 10 min walk helped just to get some fresh air. I found myself a hobby which also took some time up. 3 months isn't too bad I was stuck in a lot for nearly 9 months.

You could learn to wank with your other arm?

Seriously though, cheer up fella. There's far worse than being stuck at home with your old's.

try not to focus on the negatives too much just say to yourself in 3 months you will be back on track and travelling/working again so have that to look forward too..

in the mean while catch up with the family, read some books or watch some tv shows/movies etc or start up some hobby after all 3 months out of work due to injuries can be a downer but will also be some time out too for recharge as well.

Start working on enhancing your cv.. Start the Job hunt now.. It takes times.

Don't defer.

There must be old friend etc on social networking.. Make the first move.

Surely you've not spent all your income...

From my experiences. Seek some professional help. Good start is your GP. Lookup mindfullness. Give it a go. I use every day. Start doing some regular exercise. Doesn't matter what. Take care and remember happy thoughts get us through !!
