"Fucking dangerous.
Why?"
Think what is going to happen in the event of an accident. Even something low speed could result in broken legs, or feet through the windscreen and damage from broken glass... |

Fair enough, I guess. Although, I figure I would have a high likelihood of injury in any case. But I see your point.

A friend of mine did just this and was in a bad car crash and subquently broke both ankles, ribs and her sternum, so when I see any woman doing this I don't think 'oooooh sexy' I think if that car crashes you will be in so much pain was it really worth it? |

You ever seen a car after its been in a motorway crash at 70mph... Let alone 85 or 90.
I had a good friend come off a push bike at 35mph down a very wet downhill road, what a mess, his sides still like a cheese grater!
Life's dangerous!

I get it, I really do. I just don't think I would usually get out of a crash without some injuries regardless of where I have my feet. I don't sit like that to be sexy, and I don't do it every time I get in a car...
It is more dangerous than sitting with my feet down. Ok. I will take that into consideration in the future.

I saw a bmw spin out and hit the central res last week at a good 80 mph. Car was totalled, occupants got out unharmed. Cars are much better now a days and the seating area is very well protected.
I don't think it's sexy or a distraction, for a long journey though I know people like to stretch their legs.
Crossing a road can be dangerous too. Now as I always drive, it would be stupid of me to try it. Am fairly sure I have the flexibility though

Happened to a friend of mine, crashed at about 40, broke both femur. SMASHED her pelvis. The pelvic injury was directly because of the position She was in, Dr's said if her bladder was full She could well have died as even though it was empty it still ruptured. It also left her infertile at 26. She will never fully recover from her injuries. She will not travel for more than an hour between toilet stops now as It's left her that paranoid, she only started taking car journeys again in her mid 30's. |

Friend of mine was doing exactly this. Car rammed into the back of them, resulting in them concertina'ing into the car in front. Basically the impact crunched her legs up into her pelvis, her spine was crushed. She's paralysed from the waist down. |

I posted on a thread a while back about speed limits being outdated. Specifically the motorway at 70mph.
I know two guys who have rolled their cars admittedly through their own fault and overly excessive speed. One was a clio sport which rolled twice, he got out without a scratch on him.
Just to point out I'm not condoning excessive speed, my point is cars are a hell of a lot safer now in the event of a collision. |

Put your feet on my dash and smashed legs in an accident or heavy braking would be the least of your worries. Being booted out of a car at motorway speed would probably occur first!...
*disclaimer*
Obviously I wouldn't kick anyone out of a moving car. I would just pull over and leave you at the side of the road. |

You seem to think the only person who could possibly be injured by your rolling and rolling car is errr the driver!

And you seem to have completely missed my only point which was cars are a lot safer than they used to be regardless of who's in the car.

I'm sure most people would much prefer fully functional legs, spine and internal organs rather than a few moments of titillation while they're supposed to be concentrating on the road. |

You wanna improve car safety... Put a great big fucking metal spike in the middle of the steering wheel.
You might then see drivers drive safely |

But I didn't say I did it because it was sexy. In fact, my face kinda made fun of that.
I do it because it is comfortable on long journeys. We take risks all the time. I guess I am willing to take this one. People get hurt doing all sorts of mundane things. I will take the risk.
I'm really not trying to distract, again as noted by my initial post.
Once when I was walking home I wanted to walk through the park. It was late and my friends here in Leeds didn't want to walk through the park because it was more dangerous. But it would save 20 minutes. So I walked through the park and they didn't. Maybe another day I will get mugged and assaulted, but I will weigh the risks and the benefits.
I apologize now if my jeans and socks unduly distract people. But they shouldn't be looking into our car in the first place if they are really being safe.

Who really gives a shit? If a grown adult wants to put their feet up on the dash whilst being a passenger, they know the risks in the event of an accident versus comfort or whatever, let them do it.
Anyone would think no one takes any risks in their lives whatsoever.. Why don't you all wrap yourselves in cotton wool? Id rather die doing what I want than being a boring fuck, towing the line all the time. |

What happens if you don't die though? What happens if you're maimed instead and have to live with the consequences and probably pain for the rest of your life?
My daughters father thought he was invincible at 20 years old. Was d*unk racing his mate on motorbikes, he came off, was run over by his mate, had to get reconstructive surgery on his legs and nearly died from a fat embolism. His legs are knackered and cause him constant pain. He decided after that being a boring fuck meant he would live longer. |

Im sure Courtney isn't as daft as you all seem to think so stop patronising her.
As for my 'insult', it wasn't directed at anyone in particular, just a society who thinks people can't think and make decisions for themselves |

It's fine. I don't think they are patronizing me. We just have different opinions on risk aversion in this regard.

"Who really gives a shit?
He decided after that being a boring fuck meant he would live longer." .
Were lurching from one extreme to another, from d*unken motorcycle riding to putting your legs on a dash and risking your bladder.
It's like I'm considering using a blender but then what if I get d*unk and stick my head in it... |

Any need for insults just because some were pointing out the risks that others may not have thought of?

I don't recall patronising her at all. She's a grown woman capable of making her own decisions.
And directed at nobody in particular is still resorting to throwing insults where there really is no need. |

Call me boring if you like, but I wouldn't allow anyone to put their legs up on my dash board. 1 it's dangerous as lots of others have said,
& 2 it's bloody rude! I wouldn't go into their houses & put my feet on their sofa's So I'm not going to let them put their dirty shoes on my dash! |

Oi! I'm in the thread, you all know. I don't feel insulted or told off. In my car I'll do what I want when Marc is driving as long as its not illegal. And others can think I'm daft. It's cool
Other women do it too and I think most of the posts were general points, not directed at me.
I think I should start handing out chill pills.

Courtney, as I'm old enough to be your mother, I'm telling you not to put your feet on the dash and not to walk through parks late at night.

"Come here you little tease.
What English sweets do you like Courtney?
I feel like this is a trap
But to answer your question, Cadbury eggs.
-Courtney"
No trap, just curious What about sweets though, not chocolate. Like fruit pastilles. Do you have those in America? |

Oh, didn't realize sweets were different from chocolate. Ummm, I'm kinda boring with candy. I'm a veggie so I can't gave anything with gelatin in it. So I tend to just not eat most of it.
I looked up fruit pastilles. We have simular stuff. I like it as long as there is no gelatin
I have a soft spot for skittles. Taste the rainbow As for British candy.... Ummmm... I dunno really. I mostly eat your chocolate

"Fucking dangerous.
Why?
Think what is going to happen in the event of an accident. Even something low speed could result in broken legs, or feet through the windscreen and damage from broken glass...
Fair enough, I guess. Although, I figure I would have a high likelihood of injury in any case. But I see your point.
-Courtney
Also as I mentioned above the injuries you would sustain to your legs in a crash are terrible. They telescope
-Courtney
Friend of mine was doing exactly this. Car rammed into the back of them, resulting in them concertina'ing into the car in front. Basically the impact crunched her legs up into her pelvis, her spine was crushed. She's paralysed from the waist down. "
I imagine you're wishing you'd never said you do this now, Courtney. I'll put my neck out and admit I've too have done this on occaision. Having seen the posts explaining the horrific damage I could sustain from it, I too, won't be doing this again. I never imagined I was taking such a risk. Well any risk at all to be honest. |

Plus the airbag would force your legs back at great force either resulting in back pain or pushing your knees into your face. Plus the burns would be painful on your calf muscles |
