Just been listening to Jimmy Ruffin "What becomes of the broken hearted" Always reminds me of being little and dancing round the living room with my mum and brother to Motown. This is one of my favourite songs

VENUS, think it was a Dutch band - Shocking Blue,

(ok.later done by Bananarama, but nothing like as good).Supposedly doing homework whilst watching Top of the Pops, whilst fantasising over the female singer.. . 'a goddess on a mountain top' Think she was called Marika, and sadly died recently after losing a battle with cancer.

Or as only Ian Dury could put it,

"I haven't got cancer, cancer's got me." RIP to both of them

Sacrifice by Elton John.

It was always playing in the ICU when I visited my son. It's been 21 years since my son died and I still have not been able to listen to that song without feeling a stab of pain and I've never watched the video.

One of my earliest memories is of being on a fairground ride with my dad and the song, 'We've gotta get out of this place' by the Animals, being played.

Whenever I hear that song I'm back on that ride with my dads arm round me

Have a few tracks that are so very important to me....

Not long before he was mortally wounded overseas in 1972 my Dad gave my Mum a copy of Al Green's album 'Lets stay together'.....so this record will never be thrown away in my house.

July 1978 and I sneaked into watch 'Saturday Night Fever' at my local cinema.....'More than a woman' means so much to as it was my favourite track from the movie and some years later when I met hubby he was working for NME and got me a signed white label copy from Barry Gibb for our first anniversary together.

'How deep is your love' by the Bee Gees.....The first dance at our wedding.

'End of the road'....By Boyz 2 Men, played at the funeral of a dear departed family friend who lost his life in Afghanistan.

'Alway There' by Jocelyn Brown....1991, memories of my first holiday in Ibiza.

Too many to mention, but these ones spring to mind instantly:

Nena - 99 Red Balloons

I remember seeing Nena perform this on Top of the Pops. I was mesmerised by her performance (but mostly by her). Even though she had hairy armpits, I fell in love with her instantly, and I've had a thing about women from the continent ever since... which explains a lot about certain events in my life.

Abba - The Winner Takes It All

I was only 5 when this was released but I can remember it being played on the radio. The melody is beautifully haunting. This song is one of a handful that got me interested in music all those years ago, and which has stayed with me ever since.

Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Reminds me of my late father whom I still miss dearly after all these years.

Thin Lizzy - Sarah

This song was a favourite of someone who I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. Every time I hear it I think of her.

Andreas Johnson - Glorious

Just to prove I'm not stuck in the 80s... this song reminds me of when I lived in Copenhagen, which looking back was a good time in my life.
