Recently been finding out people actually admit to not being the age stated. Four women in the last week after chatting with them. It sounded too much till I wondered what reasons. They gave plausible ones and one was particularly a good one. Has anyone else noticed this?

...I'm beginning to thinks it's rather common. Any females come across men who say older or younger than their age.

I'll start...I've just had a birthday and gone over that very common 45 threshold. ..suddenly I've wiped out a huge potion of elegeble females...can't even message but interesting thing is the filter still allows them to look and message outside of their filters.

what where their valid reasons.

I don't meet men over 50 on here, if I saw them in a club and was attracted it would be different.

But you have to set your filters somewhere.

I can understand it must be frustrating to be outside someone's age range (I'm 50) but I'm not impressed by deception.

I can understand a year or two to avoid being discovered, but lying to stay within age boundaries is odd.

Yes. I've met one guy who admitted he was older than his profile said he was, and he did look younger than his age irl. I did not verify him even though we had great sex.

Some guys pics made me think they're older than they say also, but it's hard to judge age really because there's no standard look for any age.

My age is real, i like getting compliments on looking young for my age so happy to be my age.

There are many that lie about age, often to get round filters, then can't change back because fab only allows one change. The annoying thing is some of these profiles say they are lying about their age and nothing is done to change them. I have reported a few where they say in the profile text that the stated age is wrong, but they've never been changed. One was a 21yr old according to the profile text, but the age on the profile was 30 something...frustrating!

My Mrs was duped by this, the guy changed his age so he could message her, he was younger than stated, needless to say she still met him and said he was one of the best meets she's had.

what about the filters....do you think they should work both ways...ie if u block at 30 or 45.... should it also stop you looking or messaging outside as well?

I think anyone should be able to message anyone about anything they want (understanding their message may be ignored for any number of reasons) which is why i have put what age i'm looking for and used to have my filters open so anyone of any age or gender could message me. Obviously i'm not 100% looking for a certain age, but too many guys well outside of my age range would message me saying 'i know i'm not...blah whatever' so i shut my filters down. If people respected others peoples requests then you wouldn't need to enforce anything.

Should i be able to message outside of my age ranges for meets? Yes, if i'm within their age ranges of course i should be able to, i'm what they're looking for. I don't expect them to reply though, they might even look at me as a hypocrite even for it, idk, but if i'm what they're looking for then yeah go for it.

Most people tend to have an age filter on to cut down on messages or because they have a preference (or both) and are fairly open if the person is attractive enough to them.

Yeah, I've met guys who lie about their age. Both ways. Younger to.... Well, seem younger, and older to get around filters, because there are women who won't go for younger guys (I only recently changed my message filters down from 29 to 25). So... That's a thing....

I don't tell the truth about my age on fab, because it's the internet and no trackable/ collectable info I put up is real. Lol.

Guys do it too and I met one guy who was told when he registered to set his age as 50 rather than his true age of 55 as he'd stand more chance of meeting someone. I've seen as someone else said, lots of profiles where their age is wrong and they've said so in their profile, reported them too and nothing done. One guy I was chatting to had his age as 45 but it transpired from his picture, that he was more like 35 and when challenged admitted he was actually 40. The best one was the 42 year old profile with the wording '21 year old single lad....' who was seeking older women but said if he put his true age, no-one would chat to him

Why would you want to stop people messaging out of their preferred age range on here though? There could be one they like the look of and would have to change their age range to send a message.

How about just getting rid of the age farce, and go by how they look in their photos, and just see if you click and get along upon meeting, Age doesn't matter if you dont get on or fancy each other. From 15 upwards all i fancied and got were older women, it was never their age which attracted me, it was just them. Even now I still prefer older women, I've met 20yr olds who seem 40 (sounds weird) but it was just something about them that attracted me to them. I'm not entirely sure I made any bloody sense but hopefully you'll get the gist

For us its not a big thing. Just because someone lies about their age, doesn't mean they would lie about anything else? I agree with a previous poster who said too much information is shared. As long as its not years out, who cares? You can usually tell if its years out from any photos or when you meet up with the person.

Biggest lie was he'd taken 10 years off his age, and told me - even though my age filter still covered his fab age and real age. Made me wonder what else he thought acceptable to lie about to get laid.

Reported to admin with the message he sent me admitting his age lie... nothing done about it.

I show my real age on my profile. No point in knocking a few years off. Unless you got really lucky in the gene pool most people look the age they really are when the clothes, macup, undies, and everything else is stripped off. That's all natural and once you are in that play zone age becomes just a number...

It's when folk remove toupee's and leave false teeth in a glass by the bed I may feel just a little bit misled..

"For us its not a big thing. Just because someone lies about their age, doesn't mean they would lie about anything else? I agree with a previous poster who said too much information is shared. As long as its not years out, who cares? You can usually tell if its years out from any photos or when you meet up with the person. . My thoughts as well. I look as the pictures and as long as they are recent I don't bother too much about doing a detailed investigation into whether their age correlates to that stated on the profile .

I go for a detailed profile , interesting pictures and a good profile ..In any event age can be difficult to judge "

I find it hard to tell what people's ages are anyway .... I don't spend a lot of time second guessing, to be honest.

I'm 27 and my cut off is 40. If someone is old enough to be my dad then that's a no no for me!

I think the same, but my dad is 60 so I've got some scope

"I regularly get ID'd for service in the supermarket for buying alcohol, and often going into some pubs, but I still keep my true age on here.

I'd rather folk were pleasantly surprised than thinking bugger me she looks rough as a badgers arse for her age.

Lets go fuck a badger!!"

hell no the RSPCA will be after you lol

Lying about your age and saying your younger is old news ... Tell people your older and people will be amazed at how good you look

I used to always lie about my age. Would add a few years on... It was just easier than getting those looks when you had a child.

Now I don't lie anymore as I stopped caring

Made myself older than I am on here. Same as many others reasons. Only out by a few years Though I always tell anyone I am meeting my actual real age. Know of many a young man on here that says there older just to fall into age ranges.

I'm 54, soon to be 55 and I don't lie about my age and I don't want to meet anyone that has, nothing worse than going to meet someone only to find they are over 10 years younger or older as that is my cut off point

My school friends and I decided to pick an age and stay that age so one is 38 and can pass for it the others range from 45 to 50. People often say what your kids are how old ? So the answer invariably is yes had them at 12 (which is a lie). The responses you get to saying someone is too young / old on here is age is only a number. It appears some have had bloody hard lives for 40 and others look very young. Just use the filters

Thanks...some very interesting reads. Some very good reasons to display a different age too.

Happy fabbing everyone. New post soon.

I don't like liars.

If I'd arranged to meet someone and found out they'd lied - game over.

We travelled to meet a guy who, by his correspondence sounded a nice honest guy but when we met him he was about 15/20 years older than his pictures. Why???? The mind boggles. A polite no and exit stage left

Yup... I've turned up to meet someone and he was wearing his wedding ring.

I finished my drink and left. That is my only experience with a timewaster. I'd friggin shaved and everything!

Our profile says I'm 33, he changed it to message someone once and I can't change it back. I'm actually 36 so not a major lie and apparently I don't look my age anyway
