I graced a rather large casino down south with my presence a few nights ago. So my luck was in well so I thought, I left the casino got myself into a taxi and got dropped off at the hotel I was staying in. Only then do I realise I have left my winnings in the carrier bag in the back on this flaming taxi

So I argued with myself about what to do I didnt want to alert the taxi company as I thought no chance are they going to say yes sir we have your bag of money here safe and sound. So I contacted the local police station still under the same assumption no one is going to hand this in.

The next afternoon I was contacted bearing in mind I was getting ready to go back home on the night. Its the police Sir something has been handed in matching the description of something you may have lost. I go down their its the bag alright and nothing missing at all. I said who handed it in? do you have any details they said confidential bla la ok I ring the taxi company same responce the most I got was the guy was a security guard. I pressed and pressed as I felt a reward was in order but they wouldnt give me anything.

Just wanted to know would anyone else do this? hand it in? The guy must be mad and god bless his honesty. He would of had a very merry christmas, still some dam good people out their

Just wish I had a chance to say thank you in person.

Sometimes U.K

Shows there are honest people in this world, not everyone is out for what they can.

If you still wish to give a reward, how about popping it along to a local charity.

Not to the same degree, but twice I've handed in cash. Once a purse and once a bag.

I couldn't do anything different. Just think how important/critical this cash could be to these people. How could you take it off them?

My Ice Castle! South Wales

Good to know there is good people still out there.

I recently left my purse in a petrol station and was lucky to get it back with everything back in it. Not that there was much in there mind lol just thankful to get the sentimental stuff I keep in there back.

I had a similar situation but with a job...got chatting to a lovely lady online at an agency who found me a decent little number, went through interviews etc to eventually get the job.

Feeling excited & appreciative, i wanted to send the lady a box of chocs & some flowers, so i called her office hoping to get an address, explained to some receptionist what i'd like to do & asked for an address to send it too...was told they didn't want to share that info with a 'stranger' even after reminding her i was on their system...was a bit shocked but hey ho, i tried!

I (female) managed a taxi company started when I was in school and only left last year after 12 years so you can imagine some of the things we had handed in! Especially when we had a contract with several lap dancing clubs and brothels

If you really do want to thank the guy I would contact the firm again and explain that you understand that they can't give you the details of who handed it in but give them yours and ask them to contact you, then it's in their hands. Most drivers are very honest and will hand stuff in, my favourites are when people do a runner and leave their bag in the car then call up for it back (it happens at least once a week!)

If the person who handed it in choose to remain annonomous the police wont hand out details. The guidelines without this are hand to police after 28 days it becomes legally yours unless it contains personal details (phones computers) if the finder seeks a reward on the item being returned 10% of value is what is seen as the right amount

You could make a donation to a charity if you cannot reward the finder

I'd like to think that if I had found it I would hand it in, but to be honest, if it's an amount that warrants a carrier bag, and there are no contact details, I'm keeping it, does that make me a bad person? Who fucking cares, I'll mop up my tears with a pile of paid bills,

Generally speaking most people are honest and would probably hand in most things found unless the effort is not worth its value. I know I would.

enough for someone to not want to hand it in.

buying a new car wouldnt be out the question or a deposit on a mortgage.

thats why i was so surprised that it was handed in at all.

i hope it doesnt happen again as i feel my luck may run out

No reason to need address. Send to the office. I'd find a home address request strange and unnecessary.
