On the back of an earlier thread....
the air strikes on so called IS in Syria have started. Let's hope all our aircrew return safely after every mission and that they are successful in striking at the heart of an evil regime.
Well done guys. |

Depends where and how the air strikes are targeted. I think last nights were on ISIS held oil refineries to diminish their revenue raising capabilities. I would hope that not to many innocent civilians were there unless ISIS use them as human shields of course. |

"Yay! More humans murdering each other! "
Do nothing - humans will continue to murder other humans
Do something - humans murdering other humans
It's a bit of a zero sum game isn't it?
I'd rather the 'enemy' who wish to kill and maim others died than innocents if we have to make that terrible choice on which life is more valuable than another ... |

The world is such a mess these days!! My heart sinks when innocent people die due to some murderous regimes who r hell bent on testing their weapons!! Blitzing places with bombs achieves not a lot....the bombing raids during WWII, Vietnam, Afghanistan to name but a few did not bring any quick end to the offensive. The resolve of the 'enemy' will only heighten now! The UK thinks it still has some God damm right to poke its nose into every one else's affairs. Merry Xmas xx |

Cheaper, easier and more effective to stop Turkey buying the oil and the banks facilitating that.
Bombing is just Eton dick wagging, it will bring support to ISIS, it's exactly what the Paris shooting was intended to create. A no fly zone would protect civilians and cause ISIS to lose support.
Those 397 MPs are as dim as it gets. |

This war will never be won by air strikes alone and their a lot we've not been told.
Who been arming them?
Who created them?
And where all the Muslim States.
Just remember this Muslim wants to be the next rulers and as history show the west will not win they will create more of a problem
Like Iraq this is where Isis started |

They tend to have a lot of there strongholds in populated areas and next to schools so I don't doubt there will be some civilian casualties |

Yeah, because killing people whose argument entails blowing themselves up is going to be a deterrent.
This is a dammed if you do, dammed if you don't situation. These people aren't afraid of death and there are thousands prepared to sacrifice themselves.
I see nothing to celebrate. |

Well just be glad to celebrate the fact that you live in a free society that allows you to express your opinion.
There are many sufferers under IS that don't. |

I fear it will only fuel the fire and its probably too late anyway the enemy is already within. I dont think we can stop them we should pour everything into UK border defense. Its just a God damn shitty mess and too depressing to think about |

Considering we bomb them in Iraq anyway I don't think their grudge against us will be in anyway heightened by bombing them in Syria.
I feel sorry for Mr Syrian Joe public |

My first thoughts are with the innocent civilians to be honest, - as if they haven't had enough shit thrown at them already! |

"And it is our right to condemn such actions and shout:
Not in my name!
A right enjoyed in Syria? Pah!
It is up to us to lead by example, not be led " i think we are being led. Lots of other countries are already bombing, cameron just wants to bomb to be in fashion with other countries.. Plus a share in the spoils if and when they carve up syria |

No we are not being led, the UK is right to stand up for ourselves and others, history has proved this, not always, but it has. The parliament had a tough job yesterday to decide upon this and I think its right that they have evwn if lives have now been turned upside down over it.
Please feel free anyone to disagree with me |
