As we all are entering Christmas party time and looking at pictures of FB of friends all dressed up, it got me thinking.
Have you changed the way you wear make since your teens? Tried different styles, colours or like me stuck to the same way. I've had the odd change of liquid eyeliner or brown eyeliner but that's about it.
Men, do any of you wear make up or thoughts about it?
Trans genders, how did you learn and what style do you go for?
Many thanks Mrs Tatts

I didn't wear much as a teenager. I love makeup now, so I'll wear a full face every day for work and more dramatic looks for nights out etc. It's all about the eyes for me, with the occasional bright red lipstick thrown in. |

I never wear make up unless it's going out somewhere major important- I just can't be chewed.
I get up- shower, brush my teeth and sometimes my hair if I can be assed, then walk dog and I'm gone- day started ( used to be the gym or a run but my baby bump has stopped that for now).
I admire people who enjoy spending time to do it - it does enhance your features so much if done well.
When I do wear it , people always compliment me - in fact I've had two girls ask if I'd do their wedding make up.
However- I just can't be chewed and actually hate the feeling of it on my face- I'm aware I'm wearing it- it feels like a mask.
With regards to your Q OP- yes I've probably changed how I wear it- I wear less glitter ( although occasionally it still appears for certain club nights)...

I change how I wear my make up seasonally also as I tend to wear more lighter make up in the summer spring months..Winter darker eyes and the red lippy .I have changed how I apply it , what make I now know suits my skin and colours..its all about Matt as you get older .And of course the false eye lashes never leave home with out them |

I was really bad as a teenager it never blended right and looked a right state.
Now I tend to only wear it if I'm going out or something, I have my five a day: foundation, eye liner, mascara, eye shadow and blusher. I don't tend to wear lipstick as I can never find a shade to suit. I always go for a smoky eye effect on my eyes, at the moment I've been using the same colour for a month (I so need a change!) |

I try and wear neutral colours for every day wear. That's if I can be arsed to wear makeup anyway.
I wear drastic eye makeup for when I go out.
I used to be only wear MAC but I only wear younique now. |

As a teen I was a bit paint by body shop numbers, I would never wear lipstick as I didn't want to draw attention to my mouth because of being picked on for it. Now I use big bold lipsticks because I think sod it, they're mine, can't hide 'em. I tweak my make up over time, now when I go out I always contour my foundation rather than just slap it on and I've started using heavier eyeliner. |

I have a handful of looks which I think have developed since my teens. Also the fashions have changed. I remember wearing a lot of taupey 'colours' on both eyes and lips!
For work I keep it relatively natural. In the evenings/at weekends if i'm doing heavy eyes i'll use a pale lipstick or gloss, otherwise i'll keep the eyes light and go for a bold lippy (I prefer this look). |

Hi Debbie
Exfoliate twice a week and use a decent face mask once. Always moisturise! Like diy- it's the prep work that will make the difference.
Always start with your eyes as you can then dust away any eyeshadow from your cheeks easily.( baby wipe)
Buy some decent brushes and a good few make up sponges ( both don't need to be really expensive ).
Blend, blend blend your eye shadow and maybe pick two complimenting colours- lighter all over lid and then imagine an outer corner and arch into into your socket with the darker. Blend blend blend.
I prefer a powder liner ( best eyeliner brush I've found is bobbi brown - which is expensive- but it's the bomb!). Literally dip in an eyeshadow of your choice, in a drop of water and apply a little at a time to the corners for smaller flicks. If it looks good, add more further along.
Eyelash curl and then mascara. Zig zag bit don't over load...
Apply foundation with a damp sponge and blend! Be in a very strong light and check for marks. I personally think a lighter foundation is better than heavy, but it's all preference. Try out a few. Boots no. 7 do a good variety and I find is very smooth.
Do short brush strokes for your eyebrows. And gently blush your apple of your cheek ( such cheeks in to see where naturally light lands- highlight there).
Lipstick- go with your mood!
But remember, make up can be fun. If I have a big night, I may practice my eyes etc beforehand to see which look goes best.

I was going to suggest YouTube too. And No.7 foundation. Speak to the ladies & they will match colour to your skin tone using a machine.
I only wear foundation, concealer, powder & lippy for work & purely because I have funny skin tones & really rosy cheeks (& to cover spots). I make more of an effort if going out though.
I can also highly recommend Younique products but they are expensive!!! |

When I first started using it I was a goth so lots of dark colours then I turned into a bronzer-holic and it was so cringey when I think back. These days I use lots of make up just for everyday wear but keep to skin tone so it still looks natural, but with quite dark eye make up. For nights out i just add fake lashes, red lipstick and contouring powder. |

This is good advice. And there are some great youtubers...I learned pretty much all my makeup techniques by copying videos and practising afterwards. |

I still don't wear makeup very often; probably because I simply can't be arsed but when I do I really, really enjoy the process and have tried all sorts in my thirties I never would have done when I was younger, when I pretty much stuck to black eyeliner and red lipstick. I am currently liking a bronze and brown smokey eye. YouTube has been a godsend. I even managed a doll style lip the other day for fun. Thanks to the Boots skintone foundation matching service. |
