We were due to have some work done starting at 9 on Saturday morning at 8:40 they rang to say they couldn't do it and would come on Sunday, we said no so they said they'd come at lunch time then turned up at 3:30p.m. and did half the job promising to finish the following afternoon. They didn't turn up and phoned on Monday saying they'd be there in the afternoon...we're sitting here now still waiting for them after they phoned at 10:10 a.m. saying they would be here within half an hour.
If you have lived long enough to read this sorry tale how long is the longest you've had to wait for a tradesman? |

No they weren't. It's our own fault we normally go by recommendation or research really well but this time we didn't.
We normally do most things yourself but this is something we need a tradesman for. |

It's a pain as you're somewhat over a barrel. When it is a skilled job, you can't just do it yourself and if you sack them for bad timekeeping, it would take a lot longer to get someone else in, unless they have a gap in their diary |

I got this all the time which is why I am now project managing and building our new house myself. There are some trades you really cannot do yourself though and they seem to be worst for this sort of behaviour. They also seem to charge an outrageous amount of money and have pleasure in telling you they are all so busy they cannot even think about doing anything for 8-12 weeks! |

Sorry to hear this. Personally I'd tell them to do one as a builder myself I always like to keep to a timescale and treat every job like it's my own home. This is how I keep a good reputation and have no need to advertise. Ring them back and tell them some body else is doing it now as you have seeked info for citizens advice. |

We will do that once they've had an opportunity to explain. If there's a good reason (unlikely but possible) we'll just review the work if not we'll add that they're extremely unreliable. |
