Are you wanting to convert a DVD to an avi or just to edit it down, do you know what format the video is in? |

Have a look at divx.com.
They offer a free encoder but you might want to check the format the upload site supports.
You wont get smaller than DivX or MKV which it does whilst maintaining image quality. |

I always use "WM Converter"
It's small, simple, free and quick, and can convert just about anything to anything (including WMV)
If you can't find it on the web, pm me.
