If I were to throw a party, I would do a self service buffet of some sort, mix of hot and cold dishes for peeps to share.
Starters would include prawn cocktail, grilled vegetables, smoked mackerel pate, smoked salmon pate, raw vegetable sticks with dips, some hot party food like spring rolls, parcels, butterfly prawns etc. that I can heat up in the oven etc...
Mains would be various stews, like oriental pork, lamb curry, beef stew, a veggie one with mushroom and cream, with rice or pasta etc...
Desserts will be chocolate mousse, Tiramisu and strawberry cheesecake.
Plenty of cocktails (make them in buckets and peeps can help themselves), and booze to keep the party going.
Job done!

Would do
goats cheese and parma ham served with a little green salad and vinagrette dressing.
then be either a fillet of beef with seasonal veg or rack of lamb , four cheese gnocci and seasonal veg.
Followed by maybe a lemon posset or something equally refreshing and plate cleansing.
cheese and biccies and port to end |

OK here's mine;
Oysters
then a light celery and cream soup
main would be venison in red wine, shallots and garlic served with yorkshire black pudding and asparagus and pomme marquis
puds needs to be a light vanilla mouse with rasberry puree.
Or if none of the above pleases then the chippy for a deepfried pizza, two scotch pies and a botlle of tizer. |

Sir,
I will put my Stornoway black pudding up for a taste test against your inferior 'yorkshire' black pudding any day.
Pah! |

Without any shadow of a doubt.
It's a life changing experience.
Charles McLeod (known locally as Charlie Barley) butchers in Stornoway people, think you can get it online.
Brings a whole new meaning to 'Once you've had black, you'll never go back...' |

"MacSweens is the ONLY haggis to buy! "
Hmmm, controversial.
MacSweens is good, no question.
But a bit 'mainstream' these days.
Every butcher worth his salt makes his own.
There will be a wee village shop somewhere will make awesome haggis.

"MacSweens is the ONLY haggis to buy! What about the fruit pudding?"
I don't eat things with flies in them.
The only alternative to MacSweens is from Crombies. They also do the best black pudding I've ever tasted. And don't even start me on the pork specials!!
