Just curious to know if anyone has a steam shower unit and if so do you like it or was it a waste of money..
They look so nice and I love steam thought I might get one when I upgrade my shower room.
Any downfalls ? opinions would be appreciated.
Was thinking of putting in my loft room but I dont have the height needed. |

Not worth the bother I'd say ....
Fine for new-builds where a steam shower location has been designed and installed fit for purpose ....... but badly installed retro fit can easily introduce mould problems to the rest of the property... |

Definitely retro fitting any shower or steam room causes all kinds of problems
I have some pictures of a shower unit that was installed in a old airing cupboard ( where a water heated used to be ) many years ago and it causes major wet rot in joists and the damp caused loads of mould in adjoining rooms
Not to mention damage to ceilings and roof space where a insufficient extractor was fitted
Get an architect to look at the planned install and make comments as it's very easy for a surveyor to say its not fitted correctly without it |

Thanks
As I cannot put in the loft the next option would be to use the area in the bird room which already has a shower fitted. it is concrete floor as originally it was the outside wall with frenh doors at end so no problem with airing the room.Yes i would get advise before changing it but we still need to knock it down and rebuild
I just wanted to know if anyone had one or used one and were they worth it. |
