"Much maligned, forever connected with men in capes, huge banks of keyboards, songs that last 20 minutes and triple albums......but I love prog.
Anyone else? "
On the keyboard front, still my favorite is the intro on Rainbow's tarot woman. |

Oh yes, gotta love a bit of prog rock. Dream Theatre, The Alan Parsons Project, Asia, Uriah Heep, Kansas, Van der Graaf Generator, Marillion, Rush, Jethro Tull, ELP, all good in my books |

not keen on what it became but really dig the late 60's early 70's stuff that was crossing over from psychedelic into what became prog .... especially canterbury scene like Soft Machine and kraut-rock like Can
bits wants me to put some soft-machine vinyl on now which i think i might just go and do right now. |

"Genesis and Rush are my favourite bands, also pretty fond of Floyd and some Yes. Love Asia too "
I've got one of John Wetton's plectrums he threw into the audience after a gig in Nottm. He was born just down the road from here as well |

Every genre of music has its place and prog rock holds a special place in some peoples memories...
I like all sorts of music..IQ was quite good, marillion, genesis, etc..The 80's was my special era ad I lived it.x |

"Have you bought the new ELO album?"
That is on my Crimbo list and has been assigned to my brother, who sadly hasn't given me his list, yet. I did ask him in August, so it's not like he's not had ample time |

I like prog when I'm in the mood for it, it's like that with most music for me.
I like classic stuff (Rush, King Krimson, Yes, Genesis) as well as more modern stuff (Opeth, Dream Theater, Druckfarben, The Flower Kings) I'm also a big Frank Zappa fan, whilst I realise he isn't pedantically prog there are probably a lot of prog fans who would like his music if they haven't already. |

"Did anyone buy the latest Floyd album?"
Yes, and I like it. Partly because it's something of a showcase for the late Rick Wright's talents and I have a connection to him. I feel he's been under-appreciated as a member of the Floyd.
I love music that stirs my emotions, and I find that prog does that...difficult to beat some 70s Genesis, Yes, Tull, ELP and so on. I also love a full on symphony orchestra for much the same reason.
Of neo-prog bands I am partial to Radiohead and Spock's Beard. Some Marilion does it for me. |

" King Krimson "
I saw King Crimson a little while ago on their current tour. Effing amazing, great to see Mel collins back in the fold.
Not really music to get one in the mood for sex....even I am not that kinky lol. |

If you like Spok's Beard check out Transatlantic, they're a group with Mike Portnoy (ex Dream Theater) on Drums, Pete Trewavas (Marillion) on bass, Neil Morse (Spok's Beard) on keys, guitar and vocals, and Roine Stolt (The Flower Kings) on Guitar and vocals. Their early live stuff (particularly Live in Europe) is my favourite, The Whirlwind is also a pretty good album. |

"I like an album called 'Argus' by Wishbone Ash. I don't know what genre they are. Folk rock?
That is an amazing album
Yes, it's remarkably good. "
They still tour and are worth a viewing, have changed lots over the years but are still very good although they never did top Argus. Check out their recent album Blue horizon.
I've recently purchased roger waters the walls good listen but somewhat flawed by the editing. |

Wishbone Ash were just supported by a friend of mine's band on their recent tour
Interesting thing about punk and prog. Back in the day you couldn't admit to liking both. Now it's fine to admit it. John Lydon has "come out" as a bit of a prog fan. Rat Scabies has admitted he's a big fan of Phil Collins.
Live and let live. |

I was there to in 84 & ended up seeing them in Westbury in 1985 that was the year of the battle of the bean field . After all the trouble and surround by police with helicopters hovering overhead , Hawkwind still managed to get on to the site . What a week that was |
