Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Chopping a shallot, suddenly my eyes start watering.

I thought that was only onions?

Proper rubbing them....

Don't rub! Not your eyes anyway. They are related to an onion so probably have the same thing in them that makes you cry.

Stick your tongue out when chopping, onions, shallots,chillies ~ it works for me.

Don't run your eyes, splash them with running water.

Wash the onions in water first that will stop it

An old housemate of mine used to get that really bad and reckoned that me and another housemate who wear glasses and weren't affected because we wore glasses.
