When he media reports science, then it isn't science coz they interpret it differently and don't explain anything. Apart from the Daily Fail, they actually aren't to bad with their science news. |

I don't think any of those are Sciences either I'm afraid xx"
Interesting. I'd like to know your why? |

For psychology criminology and sociology you can argue they are not science a because they are deductive in their reasoning rather than inductive.
Also they are not falsifiable and so can't have the scientific method properly applied.
Medicine however is a science by any classical definition due it being both falsifiable and inductively based.
Although you could possibly argue that it is the impmimentation of science like engineering is to physics.
But then you'd have to remove medical research.
*note falsifiable doesn't mean it's fake it means you can be proved wrong |

My reason to why they are:
Mainly field based research, psychology does do lab research/controlled environment. All have an aim, methods/methodology, and results. An experiment that is normally conducted outside a laboratory, using humans as their sample. |

Ahh OK you're operating on a false premise.
No science is proven it's it's key and main feature. It's what makes it useful.
It's a theory not a fact.
I reckon reading some Karl popper

I need a brew now, nobody go on about food coz i'm hungry still but have already eaten.
That's sort of not true though, about some medicines. My tablets stop certain bodily functions and enhance others.
Plus science is basically just observation and recording of information.
I think there are many sciences that cannot be proven though, although many work to a degree and it can be helpful to have that prior knowledge.

"Name things that say their a Science but aren't.
I'll go first:
Medicine"
I dispute the validity of the question, Your Honour!
.
Science
.
noun - the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
Use: "the world of science and technology"
synonyms: branch of knowledge, body of knowledge/information/facts, area of study, discipline, field
"the science of criminology"
a particular area of science.
plural noun: sciences
"veterinary science"
a systematically organized body of knowledge on a particular subject.
"the science of criminology"
&c &c
The point is so long as whatever the activity if one studies, observes, experiments and it is replicable, it can be classes as science.
Including medicine.
Not saying it's perfect, mind. |

That's why I asked you to define the definition of the word used in the question. Because without that you've a dull and unsolvable semantic debate.
Defining the question properly will often give you the answer. |

Cooking is practical biochemistry. In fact '"cooking" things up in the lab' is what all chemists do. That the majority of people don't realise that the kitchen is every homes own laboratory and that when one cooks food you are changing the chemical structures of the items you are preparing is an indictment on our education system. |
