We both have a few tattoos and certainly don't see them as a disfigurement .
And since I am 54 , they still look good and some have been there site I was in my 20's .
It's each to their own , and obviously we think they look great on women .
Nothing like a streak of the rebellious side - a kind of personal statement . Sleeves and gothic tattoos are so sexy |

I've had worse said to me
I was asked once if it was a form of self harming 
Let's of people don't like them I get lots of negative comments, I've had people in super markets walk by me and make rude comments in the summer when ive had a little top on
I don't mind people not liking them I do mind plain rudeness and bad manners
All because we live in a country of free speech that does not mean you have to exercise that rights at every given opertunity  |

Almost all of mine are covered by clothing, only a small one on my wrist which is visible.
I don't really get comments about them, probably because I don't look the type. Or because people realise it's not their bodies and how it'd be rude to comment on someone else's appearance. |

Overall I think it's down to personal preference, some people have them for memories (loved ones living and passed) as some have them for adornment either way I think it down to the individual and their preference. I personally think they are Fab.. (No pun intended lol ) |

Having had many friends die young and one who is currently terminally Ill I say live for today, you won't necessarily live to be 'old' and I'd rather regret things ive done than things I haven't! |

Ive got some dodgy ones , joys of being 17 and having a friend training to be a tattoo artist I just let him use me for practive ha! Mostly little stuff but I do have a huge koi up the back of one leg im not too keen on! God knows what I would be able to cover it up with though! |

Skulls and roses are my kinda thing anyway. I'm going to squirrel away some money over the next 6 months and then get it sorted nearer the summer when I can get away with wearing a skirt/shorts while it heals x |

My experience was that it's better to not show off tattoos while they're healing, because people touch them. With their dirty disgusting hands. Why people feel like they can touch other peoples bodies just because they have a tattoo I have no idea. |

Yes, I have to agree here, having spent most of the day with my terminally sister at Royal Marsden Hospital, I too have the same attitude Maybe I should suggest she get a tattoo Only joking guys!!

I love Tattooed women and certainly find myself drawn to them more than non tattooed but it is certainly not a deal breaker I think it's because I'm heavily tattooed myself I find them appealing I find getting tattooed very relaxing and can regurly have 6 hr sittings I can't go watching others being tattooed I get way to excited |

Agree they are not so much rebellious these days but having lost representation or individuality, I think your wrong. The right tattoo for the right person can say a lot about that person and mean a lot to that individual.

with regard to the topic in the OP, one orchid looks like the next as does a tramp stamp and obviously a childs name or birthday has meaning for the parent but means nowt to most others. having said this i respect the individuals right to adorn their body as they wish and don't think anything less of them for doing so. |

Ah well, guess I'm off your list then, because I'm booked in for hand tattoos.
The rest of my tattoos aren't very 'tasteful' either, I don't think. Mind you, I'm never sure what tasteful is, or why one would want to adhere to someone else's idea of 'tasteful'.
It doesn't sound a fun way to live your life to be constantly worrying about what may or may not be tasteful. |

Ive got some dodgy ones , joys of being 17 and having a friend training to be a tattoo artist I just let him use me for practive ha! Mostly little stuff but I do have a huge koi up the back of one leg im not too keen on! God knows what I would be able to cover it up with though! I'm covering mine with a huge skull rose and pocket watch. All mean something to me
Skulls and roses are my kinda thing anyway. I'm going to squirrel away some money over the next 6 months and then get it sorted nearer the summer when I can get away with wearing a skirt/shorts while it heals x"

I always wonder about ones done in Chinese characters, do they really say what the person thinks they do.

If the person does the correct research before getting Chinese symbols then it should say what it's supposed to. I have a Japanese Symbol & I know for definite what it means as I took time to make sure. |

Yeah I've seen a few shocking tattoo's spelled wrong. What I don't get is the artist asks a few times if you are totally happy with it before starting. Then applies it via transfer paper & asks you again if it's in the right place etc. So how does the person not realise?
It's really not that bad. The noise of the tattoo gun makes it sound worse. I have 5, would like 2 more. |

I have 5 and 1 of them has no meaning what so ever. I got it purely on the basis that I thought it looked really pretty. It's a small heart on my wrist, about an inch in diameter. Just an outline heart. & I love it. |

Not sexy, why would you do it. They look gross when you are older, with wrinkly skin
Yeah that's one side of it I guess but everyone has their own tastes etc, I still think they look nice

Some people like to hang their art on walls. Other people like to carry it with them on their skin.
Each to their own. Some like some don't. I don't think it's disfigurement though.
What about people who go on holiday and come back with dark tans? Are they disfiguring their body too? They have effectively changed their skin as well? |

All my tattoos are designed for me personally by my tattooist. There are just too many copies of tattoos people have found in the internet.
Make sure your tattooist is an artist first and not just a
glorified copier. Any tattoo artist worth their salt will design a one off tattoo for their clients x |
