Ok guys and gals....

Sell us your local Christmas market. Needs to be in England and big enough to warrant a trip out. We loved Lincoln but after a couple of years it felt a little same old same old so looking for alternatives please.

Neither are particularly local but the Bath & Winchester markets are excellent, both based around the cathedrals and really festive.

Not sure which one to go to this year, last year was Bath previously Winchester

Cant sell the Christmas market but can sell gates nursery. Has a Christmas room that's amazing and if you've got kids the Santa's grotto is magical for them.

Our Christmas tree here was so bad last year we had a petition and someone donated one lol

What's the Glasgow one like? And is it up and running properly from 1st December, or a smaller version then gets larger closer to Christmas?

Don't bother with ours. It's run by foreigners as our council turned it over to the people who have their stalls there. Germans have charge of it to my knowledge

As it happens, we went to the Birmingham German market today and it was ok. However, same old stuff on each stall was a -ve. German schnell imbiss (quick snack) food is usually good quality and what we had didn't dissapoint. Nice for a change, christmasy.

Isn't that kind of the point ?

It's not really a German market if Fred and Mavis just stop selling big knickers for a month and start selling strüdel instead

Hampshire / Herefordshire

I would agree with the other posters regarding Bath. We have been for a couple of years now and booked a hotel for the second week in December to go for a two day break this year. All the usual stalls but a few interesting things run alongside it to keep the days busy. Roman baths well worth a visit, architecture is good and the main areas are very pedestrian friendly. Have a big breakfast and then snack from the stalls during the day. Night for playtime.
