Would anyone be interested in a walk (weather permitting)?
Myself and Shaz walk for miles and miles and just love it! we have tried a couple of walking clubs but they are normally not very chatty to new people and leave you feeling the odd one out
So we was wondering if anyone would be up for some nice steady walks starting from different places in the midlands, anything from 5 + miles
Can do a week day for a few hour and the odd saturday.
Maybe stopping at a couple of pubs/bars on the way, would be a good way of having a laugh, socilizing and getting a bit of exercise at the same time.
Would be open for anyone on the site that wants to come regardless of status.
We do have a couple of people interested already and would like to see if any others to see if worth sorting.
Hope this can be asked and in the right place.

"mind you ....... im slow"
There will be lots of slow walkers (including us) so don't worry about that!
As long as it's good fun then no rush at all

@ Peaches,
What if someone you knew wanted to come and offered you a lift?
The idea was to do a different area each time so we don't get bored and to give them with no transport a chance hehe

Thanks
@ _imal75
Anyone will be able to come from the site regardless of status, it would only be like a social while on the move anyway so would be cool
@ Sugarfree2011
Yes deffo need to do some on a weekend as some of us work.
If anyone has a real nice walk in there area with lots to see and some nice bars on the way then please say them cause then if enough people are interested we could plan each route ahead.

On way we did walks with a few people was for everyone to meet at a point being the end. all pile into cars and drive to the beginning, leave the other cars, do the walk and drive back to collect the other cars.
The way you can walk the same distance but without repeating the scenery
Hope this makes sense |

We think it would be great and because of all the responce we are going to sort it hehe
Do you good folk think the exact start location should be kept quite until the day before like a normal social just to stop any media catching wind of it?
Just to say, think we should leave the mountain's out, they might kill 1/2 of us by the time we got up top
Petillante, I was thinking of like walking a big circle as easier to sort then and don't see the same 2 things twice apart from the start/finish
_emmefatale, you could bring a pair to slip on when we go into the pub

Yup, I'd say pm it to those who respond rather than putting it on open forum. Just a thought? |

Good idea
I can't help thinking that walking around a nice lake somewhere would be good. It virtually guarantees no steep climbing/descending, a nice _iew and solves the problem about parking cars.

Well we going ahead with it wooohooo!
Going to sort out the date and route, and post it soon.
First will do from Leicester in a nice big round route with plenty to see and some nice bars, then if anyone has any sugestions for the next one (and know the route well) then can do that the next time, if lots of sugestions then we can keep them in a hat and pick one out each time
Got about 30 or so people interested so far so will keep you informed
Can't wait! (dancing emotion)

What a great idea - wish it was happening a bit closer to Wiltshire... although if you do venture as far south as Malvern then count me in!
I also thought I'd share that there's a good book you might want to consider getting called "365 Pub Walks & Cycle Rides", which is published by the AA (of all people!). I mean the car people, not Alcoholics' Anonymous, obviously, considering the title of the book
We're not supposed to link to it, but you can find it on the AA's website, or just Google the title. Here's some info taken from the AA's website about the book:
"An exciting new edition of this comprehensive walking directory offering a vast collection of routes for the whole family, providing a walk or cycle ride for every day of the year. The guide is full-colour throughout with a fresh and modern design to make route following easy. The innovative ringbinder-in-a-book format allows you to remove each page to take with you on a walk and replace it when you return. There is even a durable plastic wallet included to protect the page from the elements. Additional information is included for each walk, such as car parks, route directions, name of the pub suggested for lunch, typical dishes served, family facilities and opening hours. Illustrated regional openers cover the local wildlife, famous writers and historical figures from the area." |

We have heard the Pub Walks & Cycle Rides" book is good before so will have to get one
We are going to try and do the first walk on saturday, will be around 8 mile, not to far but can burn around 800 calories.. talking and laughing can burn quite a lot also but then you have to deduct any drinks of that
And a little one on the wed after, maybe a museum walk or something? I can think of 3 all near each other here with plenty of bars between
Got over 40 peeps interested so far and climbing so looks like it could be a right giggle
If any of you feel midlands is to far then nothing stopping you from pinching the idea! we will try to get to other peoples also but pending on distance as we can't drive but can get the train/coach sometimes.
Hears to a good stroll! (enter cheers emotion here)

We are going to do this on saturday, will post it in the event's part of this site tomorrow.
Just so we know roughly what time people would prefer to set of, can you all give us some indication then can do an average.
If anyone can't make it this week then thats cool cause we might be doing one the following week also if enough interested

Hi there
We are doing the first social walk on saturday the 15th january at 12.30pm (if you can make it)
It will start at a pub and finish at a pub (and a couple inbetween, total walk is about 7.5 miles so not to hard for a newbie.
The walk won't be to fast, we all want to be alive at the end of it so don't worry if you are not very fit hehe.
After about 5 miles we will be comming to an outdoor exercise park with a few strange contraptions on it if anyone dare's to have a go.
(it's free)
Also along the router there is a huge slide (about 70-100 foot tall) if anyone dares (we will have a quick go) (it's free)
The exact starting location will be told the night before just so no media catches wind of it and follows us about.
This is a social only to have fun and meet like minded people.
Hope you can come, please let us know if you can then we can tell the starting location on friday night.
