I'm curious as to why this expression is used in court, and what others think of it?
I mean, I personally see pleading as getting down on your knees and grovelling, essentially acknowledging someone's status and importance as being considerably greater than your own, it's a demeaning concept and the fact the court would imply this toward you seems rather primitive.
Thoughts? (and no, I haven't been to court recently) |

cause its traditional meaning is to argue.
so from its use of say "having someone plead your case" it slowly became more associated with begging for something from someone in a position of power. |
