I love growing many non-native plants and wondered if you've got any experience with lights used for plant growth?
I'm thinking of adding one or some in my greenhouse, so they'd supplement natural daylight.
A lot of material out there relates to growing 'herbs' for medicinal and pleasure use, which isn't my objective. And personal experience is more valuable than biased web sales site support etc.
I'm not wanting incredible growth over winter, but better than our dim sunlight develops.
I grow bougainvillea, bird of paradise and similar semi-tropical plants, if this helps.
Options I know of are fluorescent, compact fluorescent, LED and very high watt other bulb types. Whilst photosynthesis occurs in a small part of the light frequency range, I'd be interested in just provision of light in those ranges, not just tons of bright white light.
Thanks for any ideas and tips. |
