with going into turkey you pay £10 and now the usa is thinking of doing this, do you think the uk should start to charge people to come into the uk
tourists attracting 27 millon overnight-stay visitors every year in london alone so think just how many per year visit the rest of the country and if all of them paid £10 it would be a start to bring some money in again

You have to do this for quite a few countries. I had to when I went to Egypt, although I can't remember if that was leaving or arriving.
I think I did for Morocco too.
I think it could work. Its a way of bringing money in I suppose. And we certainly need all the help we can get at the minute.

you have to pay turkey when you arrive and it must be a british £10 note and no you wouldnt have to pay to get back into your own country..
and the 20% vat is a raise of 2% its not a massive jump if you look after the pennys the pounds look after you  |

Are those charges not nominal "visa" charges? Do you have any idea how much some foreign nationals have to pay for a visa to get into this one? Google it. |

Dunno, I'll ask my mate how friendly the law enforcement agencies are over there in Jamaica. He's currently the only white man in a jail over there, 4 to a cell, crapping in a hole in the floor, one bed between them on a rota basis. (sounds like Butlins to me) Still, he's losing loads of weight, so it's not all bad eh? |

There is already a Visa charge for anyone entering the UK on a visitors or business Visa......so no different than Turkey is it?
For example a Turkish citizen entering the UK on a visitors or business Visa will be charged £70. |

Without a Visa it is almost impossible to get into the UK from the vast majority of countries, maybe you are suggesting that Visa charges to get into the UK should be raised to £500?
In which case we are not talking about illegal entry are we?
Raising Visa charges to such heights will all but stop the lucrative tourism market overnight....losing the UK economy Billions every year.
Like your own foreign holidays?, well imagine if countries like Turkey, Eygpt, USA, Thailand, Dominican Republic raised the cost of your entry Visa to £500 for your holiday....all of a sudden not so good a prospect after all. |

I think you will find that Turkey is not part of the EU. I would say that most people do opt for hols inside the EU where visa charges are exempt.
If Turkey is granted entry (God forbid) the visa charge for other EU nationals will be dropped. Its part of the free borders legislation, you do know what free borders means?

Illegal Immigrants don't pay for a Visa...If they could legally get a Visa they wouldn't be an illegal immigrant in the first place.
