I have sat with my morning cup of coffee reading a few threads in the forum,i have noted comments made by forum users, all of which are their opinion and have a right to it.

What i would like to know is, do you ever read forum posts, look at the posters profile, like the look of them, but because of what they have posted , rule them out for a meet?

They may have a fabulous body, great verifications, but because of what they have posted there is no way on earth you would meet them?

yes.. How people write and the context in which they use words is important to me.

I personally never message anyone asking to meet, I prefer meeting up and getting to know folks at socials.

The forums/chatrooms offer a one dimensional _iew of someone... but an important one to me.

Yes. I can get a fair idea of whether or not someone would be my cup of tea if they post regularly on the forums. Wouldn't decide from one post, but from a few, I think a personality can come through quite strongly.

Reading what people write in the forums is a great way of telling whether I like someone or not. It certainly beats any sort of verification!

I have done on a few occasions ruled out meeting someone for what they have posted. You look at a profile and it is all positive, says how nice they are, the verifications say things like well mannered and polite and all looks good.

Then you read things they post when their guard is down expressing their true personality and how unpleasant they can be.

I LOVE honesty and plain speaking and there are a few people who their postings would earn them a glass of their favourite tipple from me!

Others come across as so angry, bitter and agressive, as do their profiles, you wonder how they get meets!

Considering the people that make me chuckle and think are women or part of a couple getting naked will never be an option!

My dear DG.... that’s what antihistamines are for!

SOME singles (not all) on forums (generally) can become very ermmmm, I keep wanting to say insular but that’s not quite the right word, neither is incestuous … but they are words which spring to mind when the same people clamber over a limited resource. I have seen here and plenty of other places the verification wars ‘some’ people have… who has met who the most times, who had the better meet. I have received the “he is my friend not yours” and "he's told me everything, we have a 'special' bond" messages and much, much worse. I have been misquoted as saying “they can’t come” when actually I’ve said “of course they can come”… work out the reasons for that one yourself. I have been shown the “if you meet her I won’t meet you again” messages. Oh god I could go on about this all day with examples. It seems far too often, when I have in the past shagged a single male forumite, there has been baggage attached in female form.

Many guys have been given advice about getting themselves known on a forum and they will get meets… and unless they are a total munter and don’t say anything too twatty… it is generally true. Then sometimes you will notice because one female forumite has met him another thinks they are missing out on something…. and so it begins. As a well known guy from another forum once said to me… “once you know how to play the forum game it’s a piece of piss”.

I certainly don’t have a problem with sharing and I certainly don’t expect nor need to be someone’s ‘favourite’… but I would sooner not find out who does by being caught in the middle of childish shite. If they means I miss out on a meet with the occasional good guy, so be it… it’s not like there is a shortage of them out there.

All of that PLUS SOME MORE!

*shudders*

Which goes back to my ignoring of verifications and not wanting to know who has fucked who... cause I've had the "he's my friend, not yours" line also and when that happens, I figure I've had a lucky escape. People telling you who you can and can't fuck is more common than some realise and quite frankly... I decide who I can and can't fuck.

Insular isn't quite the right word but I know exactly what you mean. Too familiar? I don't know... but when everyone knows everyone else's business it becomes too cosy for my liking.

"Even the ones who are a bit strong in there _iews at times i would love to meet at socials as you can only know so much from them posting here ... "

^^^^This is how I look at it.

I'm quite strong minded and known for saying exactly what I think on other forums regardless of what anyone else will think. Several people have said to me in the past that if they didn't know me personally, they might have written me off from my postings.

Of course some people will say things that make me think 'hmmmm' but I never judge a book by it's cover since I realised the exact same thing was being done to me.

Also........... yes there's more

Obnoxious isn't always the only turn off.

People who have to agree with everything they can because it looks nice and only disagree when a bandwagon with "Disagree Here" written on the side turns up. And god forbit if anyone disagrees with them... oh me, oh my it's the end of their world just because someone they had always agreed with doesn't agree with just one of their opinions. It's usually followed by some pathetic half-arsed flouncey type comment, such as "I may as well go now then".... yeah, feck off and come back when you have had the stem cells implanted to grow a spine!

And more..

I'd happily fuck someone I didnt agree with on the forums, it's an opinion not a way of life.

And could lead to a much more interesting 'meeting of minds and bodies' than doing the whole 'arent we great for liking the same things' bit.

You also run the risk of having a forum post detailing the aspects of the meet said forumite didn't like or even, did like. That's quite a fashionable thread symptom that I've always found quite fascinating. I've never investigated enough to find out who the evil do-ers referred to in such posts were/are, however, should I have had the inclination to, I doubt it would have been difficult to figure out

At the end of the day, it is hard to judge someone by what they write, there is a certain amount of anonymity in the forums and profiles and may all be front or for show.

It is only when you get face to face that you can judge someone or decide if you want to take it any further

Genius, evil, aesthetically pleasing, obnoxious.

(And all points in between).

Take your pick, mix 'em all up in a bowl, and come out with whatever impression you have of me, which of course is influenced by your own foibles etc.

Overall it's what's know as 'shag neutral'. I don't get any more because of it, but nor to I get any less.

(But I deliberatley capitalised the 'I's, thus pointing more toward evil genius...)

"I think it probably does include me.

Is this your evil genius thingie or you being paranoid? Or ... or ... or, are you just being obnoxious in an aesthetically pleasing way?

You've got me sussed.

Kind of a menu thing;

Genius, evil, aesthetically pleasing, obnoxious.

*sigh*

Well i think it all depends on the points in between. And more or less than who. Where, when and why? I don't get it. So I've not got you sussed. But then I haven't tried sussing in a long time, mainly because it involves brain cells Mr Smirnoff stole a long time ago

Certainly sometimes provokes interest and may encourage us to meet them. Personally, I think one shouldn't take these posts too seriously as many are extremely "tongue in cheek". Does give you an idea, though probs best not to judge too quickly.

There have been some that have put me right off tho.

Yup, and I have no intention of meeting a number of gents on a one to one basis based on what they have posted, and how they come across in the forums, even if they look and build like Greek Gods.

Usually they are obnoxious as well as asthetically unpleasing to me.

For me, sticking to friends and agreeing with everything they say is rather boring, its sitting on the fence and signals to me that people are afraid to voice opinions in case the majority disagree.

Not at all, one opinion hardly defines a person!

I prefer to get to know someone on a one to one basis and judge them for myself.
