Recently watched two documentaries by tyger drew hunny one on sexism and another similar series looking at dating and porn [mainly because they were set in my uni town]

With Britain being described as the most openly in your face sexist country in the world.[not my words but that of a UN expert].

The question has to be asked weather the rise of lad culture in the 21st February has caused this opinion?

Without seeing the documentaries in question, I would probably say no.

Lad culture is awful yes, but they've already been raised to think it's ok to treat women as less than. That attitude has been around a lot longer than lad culture.

I think a lot of factors come into it - education, good family role models etc.

Let's look to previous forum thread examples

Woman posts "today I flashed a nipple through my silk dressing gown to the delivery man"

She hailed as "sexy, naughty and so on.

Male posts "today I flashed my left bollock through my dressing gown to the delivery woman"

He's hailed as "Pervy, sick and so on

And just to touch on my workplace - the women who work there doing the same jobs for the same pay are treated a lot better than their male colleagues by management.

Shocking I know

A bit off topic here but i like talking about humanism. When in my sports ethics class at uni and this kind of fits in with your argament as one of the students was asked to leave the class after quizzing him with him with an online sex quiz. "He simply replied back to the lecturer buts that's the way i normally talk about women." The lesson then change from being the morality drug cheating in sport to that of feminism and any thing he(the lecturer) wanted to talk about.

Millie later on argued but i am not a lass or a feminist i rather see myself as a lad or a right girl.

My question to you is wheatger women (and society in general has become desencatised to low level social sexism?

Yes, I believe so. Wolf whistles in the street, the depiction of women in magazines and articles on how to satisfy your man, etc. Stuff we've become used to, and we shouldn't be.

If you're interested in finding out the horrifying levels of sexism that women have to endure DAILY, check out the Everyday Sexism website.

I dislike the sticking everyone in 2 neat and tidy _oxes. It leads to situations like the sad news story this week where a transgender person committed suicide after being sent to a male prison, despite clearly living as a woman for a substantial period of time. Apparently they didn't have the right paperwork...

There arnt many lads mags around these days. They are just as not as profitable nor popular as they were in the 90's and 00's. Companies rather publish celebrity glitz mags because they sell better.

Kids mags areainly about titlation if you want that then you might as well go online. The how to dress and witty antidites section are now really dominated by online nags like ladsbible, uni lad and waistchester.

My experience of men is that 95% of them are disgusting (#NOTALLMEN) . Eg: I was at work today (Ann summers) and a guy came in and spoke to my chest and then proceeded to get really close and ask me about x and y sex toy. Men will come into the shop to laugh at sex toys, call us all slags and then fuck off, which is very mature.

Look at the kind of messages us women get on fab, another prime example. Even just walking down the street doing ma thang and I'm criticized or catcalled (THANK YOU random man for validating my self esteem- how would I have known I was a valid and valuable member of society without you honking your horn at me and shouting 'nice tits sugahhh'...)

The ones that claim to be nice guys are The Worst, and the fact that being friendzoned is bad just show how fucked up our attitudes towards women are. A woman values me as a friend but she still doesn't wanna suck my dick what's that about worthless skank - some men genuinely think that.

No female ever? You can speak for all?

How do "how to please your man" articles differ from "how to please your girl" articles?

How about the depiction of men in popular media/adverts/films as the doddering fool who needs women to show them the way? The moron dad in adverts who needs everyone to show him how to be normal?

I walk down many streets and there are not the gales of wolf whistles that seem to be reported by some.

The male half of us regularly wears a kilt and without fail women will try to look at his genitals under it, ask if he is wearing underwear and sometimes put their hand up his kilt.

If that was the other way about the police would be involved.

We are all sexist at times. The difference is ta the some people just ignore idiots and others seem to think that the world is all against them.

I think perspective would help here.

"Hey, love! You might think you have experienced sexism, but actually, just get over it"

Lovely."

There are more than polar opposites in any argument. Figuring that out helps polarised sides to see each others persoective and aids understanding. This sort of rubbish just polarises.

95% of men are disgusting according to this post.

Really? Is this a helpful statement? Or bile ridden codswallop?

"My experience of men is that 95% of them are disgusting (#NOTALLMEN) . Eg: I was at work today (Ann summers) and a guy came in and spoke to my chest and then proceeded to get really close and ask me about x and y sex toy. Men will come into the shop to laugh at sex toys, call us all slags and then fuck off, which is very mature.

I think your white charger needs food and water Hun a you might wanna get down off it!!

Frankly I couldn't give a crap if a guy (or group of guys) stares at my arse or tits or says something inappropriate as long as it's not downright rude or insulting! To be frank imho the single fems on here objectify guys/couples more than anyone! If you want to meet us you have to be exactly to our specification even if we don't meet that specification ourselves and and we have no issue letching on torso Tuesday or thigh Thursday!

I eye guys up appreciatively just as much as they eye me up!

Whether you youngsters think so or not - there's a lot less casual sexism now than there was in the 80's and 90's as I recall! Then you kept your head down if you had to walk past a building site!

We've no right to be offended that someone's checking out our boobs or arse when we know we're checking out guys with great torso's too!

Where it DOES matter is in employment opportunities for women and girls - where there are far too few women in top jobs!

Other than that - let's be happy that things are changing slowly but surely - and let's be even happier that we're living in a country/generation where being born with a vagina doesn't mean that you have no freedom, choice or opportunities!

Let's get real please ladies and gents!!

Peach, that looks like internalised misogyny if ever I saw it. You should be ashamed for not wanting to #KillAllMen or #BatheInMaleTears!

I prefer to call it intelligent realism - but I'm willing to have a private conversation about bathing in a tiny amount of male semen instead of male tears!
