Absolutely tiny risk in any event.
Driving to the airport is far fsr riskier than being killed by a terrorist. Crossing the road outside your house is riskier, as is eating your dinner.
The fear is not a rational one and we are doing well despite the increase in fear to keep going. We ought to be proud. |

Depends on how hot you like your winter sun.
If it was me I wouldn't go to The Med this time of year, maybe look at Cape Verde, UAE, Vietnam or Caribbean / South America... |

Underwater observatory marine park, also the old city of Jerusalem were great! lots of different tours going on. Security is very strict, with my passport stamped Dubai they wanted to know my purpose of visiting there and was questioned for 30 minutes. Once your past the airport some of the places are breathtaking. |

A lot of people are saying don't let the terrorist win etc etc but for me I wouldn't travel somewhere where there was a raised threat, and would encourage my loved one not to travel. These people don't value there lives. |

Got back from Puerto de la Cruz, North Tenerife last week. Around 26 - 30 degrees and sunny all week - a nice place with a lovely, historic old town (makes a change from the usual 'plastic' tourist places that abound in the Canaries). Just been scraping the ice and snow off our car in the hills above Oldham - know where we'd rather be at the moment.
As for the terrorists - ignore them - as an aside we won't visit Muslim countries anymore - not because of prejudice but simply because we dislike their 'rules' such as no topless or naked sunbathing, covering up in public etc. - can't be doing with it all tbh. |

You stand more chance of being killed by a horse in London than by a terrorist in Paris. At least you can say you've no balls. |

"We are off to the dam after Christmas for a short break, can't let people ruin your life, you could be hit by a car tomorrow as likely as been blown up"
Very true! There's a guy on here drives around wanking! Not sure what would be worse, facing a terrorist or a car with a mad wanker at the wheel? |

If you don't want to go don't go. It's not letting the terrorists win. Your responsible for your own safely no one else. Do what you feel is right |

I just think carry on as normal, if it happens..... It happens. Can't live your life in fear. Where does it stop? Not going to London ever because of 7/7, or New York cos of 11/9. Staying on a remote farmhouse in Yorkshire for the rest of my days?

Me and my mates just chose to go to Vietnam and Cambodia for Christmas and new year.

So you think I should take a young colleague to Brussels when the public transport has been locked down and thr city is on max alerts?
And you think my company should let us go?
Stiff upper lip? Easy to say such things when it's simply a news item you are talking about. |

it's mind blowing, definitely worth a three day pass.
Plus the boat trip to there from Pnom Penh, up through the Ton Le Sap is well worth it too!!
Enjoy! |

"I actually was planning to go to France around the Christmas break. Now I have to look elsewhere.
Why? "
plus 1..
if one took the view that its best not to do something because of bad things that have happened to others then one wouldn't drive a car or go on a train or any of the other everyday things in our lives where there is a risk..
one wouldn't go to Raqqa or parts of the globe where there is conflict ongoing but they the terrorists want to change our way of life and the best massage is to say 'fuck right off' i will live as i intend to..
give in to bullies and they will make your life hell..
go to France and enjoy.. |

Yes, if the authorities say a particular place is too dangerous then you sensibly will take their advice and decide by yourself.
The general tone of the thread is to not let the terrorists win by scaring people from any kind of travel.
Obviously it would be better to all stay at home, because we all know the UK will never be a target!
My post was because the vast majority of people here were expressing the same thoughts that I have which seems to be a proper British refusal to be intimidated.

Very few Muslim countries ask people to cover up in public.
Generally the ones where it is 50 Celsius in the shade and it us just a good idea. Lol. |
