Ok so I have one of those cars with a card instead of a key. This morning ive gone to put the card in and it wont go in straight, have had to slot it in at an angle but its still working! My question is, how bloody expensive is it going to be to fix??! Lol x |

I have had this happen with mine before but then it just magically fixes itself. I think it may be something to do with the angle you take it out at the last time just slightly jolts the slot. Never had to take it to the garage. |

If it's a Renault take it to a dealership.
Chances are it'll need an oil change
New brake pads
Re-skim the discs just to be sure
And a new flux capacitor while you're there couldn't hurt

I can repair the actual card if when you put it in it says card not accepted can be done by post and will last at long enough to get a new key cut
Or go to a specialist lock smith for 130 but they need car Hence my previous post
Unless you take picture of the slot and send it to me can't really say
There is lots of options but you will need an old sxhool mechanic who knows modern cars and there are not many around
Your first port of call in Renault key card problems is to try the spare key before spending out |

"Renault? 1 word "expensive" "
We use a local garage and the guy has three charge bands.
1. Oh Dear
2. Dear Oh Dear
3. Oh Dear Oh Dear Oh Dear
When we had a Renault it was always charge band 3.

You dont need a new card!! Its the card reader thats the problem which can be purchased second hand from a breakers yard if need be.
Keep using it as it is, its still working. No sense in spending if you dont have to. |

I don't disagree with you but on renaults as in all cars you try the spare first
Renault does havr problems with key cards breaking they can be repaired and they can be checked to see if it is the key that's the problem rather than the slot . Checking Is easy and usually free at Renault
It is best practice to always check the key first if slot has not fallen out
I can put you in touch with my sons key guy he will make a new key for 96.00 through me or 120 as his customer |

Thats pretty reasonable for a Renault key.
I believe the problem is the key slot as the key is squint in the reader. Its not possible for the key to change shape so must be the slot being slightly out of alignment. As someone said earlier, it may sort itself out with use but, its more than likely going to get worse. |

Mine has done it on and off for the last couple of years, so definitely not the key itself |

There's a simple solution if the car will start.
Drive it to a secluded field.
Cover it in petrol.
Set light to it.
Claim it was stolen.
Buy a new car with the insurance money.
NEVER BUY FRENCH. They'll eat your wallet and break your heart. |

Short term. Just try to jiggle, in the end the car will start.
Loan term replacing the slot ( new) at the dealer will fix the problem.
Second hand is just about ...when is bad again?? |
