Hull but travel regularly

Just had a friend leave who stayed the weekend and she put the glasses face down. I'm a face up girl. What's your preference and why?

I've never understood face down. Does this mean you regularly have to clean your cupboards?!?! I'll stick with face up!

I put glasses face down so the dust doesn't settle in them.

But you can rinse them out. Plus there's no dust in a cupboard.

Face down for both easier to balance as top surface further across than base usually, also easier to stack mugs that way to

True, the air's quite stagnant in cupboards too.

Face up for the mugs and glasses I regularly use (the ones on the bottom shelf). Face down for the posh occasional ones or specialist ones (they live on the next shelf up but I have a box to stand on).

If you're going to rinse them anyway, it doesn't matter?

Come to think about it, if cupboards are dust-free, then face up won't collect any dust, and face down won't be plonked onto residual dust.

Now, what about condensation?

Up. They're all used regularly anyway, and those which aren't (the posh cups) are in a glass fronted cabinet so would look shit if upside down. But I do rinse them before using if they've been in there a while as I'm a bit paranoid about moths being in there.

On their sides.

Then you can avoid making that difficult up/down decision AND have a fun game of catch every time you open the cupboard

"Just had a friend leave who stayed the weekend and she put the glasses face down. I'm a face up girl. What's your preference and why?"

Glasses face down due to doing it in bar work for 4 years it allows any condensation to drain away also stops dust getting inside the glass

My mugs are the right way up so i can get 2 layers on the shelf. I actually don't know about my glasses. I'll have to check my cupboard

Ok it seems the reason why i didn't know is because i really don't have a special way

I have them both ways... Sometimes i wish i could be more OCD and less chaotic

The Town by The Cross

cups face up stacked inside each other with the saucers under the bottom cup.

Mugs face up.

Glass on drawer liner face down ALWAYS.

A crystal stemmed glass will topple if stood upward it would be top heavy.

Divvies.

"A crystal stemmed glass will topple if stood upward it would be top heavy.

So if you drink from a crystal glass you have to down it in one because the glass won't stand up?

All facing up in a cupboard.

Give the glasses a quick blast of steam from the kettle before using.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Face down for most as they don't get used. It's then a rinse and wipe dry job when they are about to be used.

Frequent use glasses, the brandy balloons and the martini glasses are stored on their feet to avoid damaging the rims.

I really should get rid of all but five glasses.
