When did this come in to usage?

Should I be offended if someone says it to me?

"Yes "

Why? It seems to be a very feeble response - no wit or pithyness.

"When did this come in to usage?

I'd be offended as it means 'you're' boring them and to go bore someone else

It's akin to 'shoo' or 'piss off you irritating oik'

It's quite old skool but still in usage

Usually used to end s argument. They're bored with it. Hense why they've said bore off. Seems to be a new generation thing

So since it was in response to me saying goodbye and that I wasn't impressed with their conversational skill and offering a few tips to how they could improve it with the next person they waylaid it was a really feeble attempt to offend me

Possibly as childish as me sniggering when he said it...

Yes they give up because they can't construct an appropriate retort so say that

I got told to bore off by a d*unk driver who was upside down in a hedge.

I only asked him if he was ok?

It's not offensive though is it really? Childish yes, but not offensive.

Depends.

If I knew they understood a point I was making but were just being dismissive of it, I'd find that slightly offensive.

If, on the other hand they just didn't get it, then no.

My son sometimes uses it when he knows he's in the wrong - that, I do find annoying.

Titz Towers, North Notts

I'd reconsider their priority on your Christmas list

People say it if you say something sensible online that they don't wanna hear.

Never heard the phrase irl but see it on fb comments a lot.

Don't be offended, it's usually something stupid people say when they can't be bothered to argue a point.
