Anyone want to help keep me focused?

I have an interview tomorrow for a much better job (and I am starting to get nervous). I am working on a portfolio of things I have created and used with my students to showcase what I can do. However, my mind is all over the place and I am having trouble concentrating. I do better when I am multi-tasking...anyone want to chat while I work so I am not so stressed about this?

try to remain calm and be yourself in a professional manner and answer the questions in due time and try not to panic if you find a question hard to answer..

most importantly dress smart and maintain eye contact...

Thanks for the advice. I am feeling really "off" today and I don't know why. I really need to get out of the job I hold currently and it makes me even more nervous when I have interviews.

I see, the best thing you can do then is clear you're mind, go out and perhaps to do some exercise or activity to ease you're mind or even spend time with family or friends to calm yourself...

then tomorrow just go into the interview with a clear calm mind set and you will realise that you were panicking for nothing, even if say you don't get this job you want be happy at least that even though you're in a job you're not happy with that you have one and that eventually another opportunity will come along..

hey just be relaxed and show your personality they will ask you to come up with difficult situations that you controlled ,I've had 20 interviews recently xx

Try and think of the key things you've done that they'll be interested in and have a nice summary of them ready (sounds like you're already on the way with this).

The other one is don't stay up too late preparing or stressing (easier said than done I know), get an earlyish night and have confidence that your preparation will pay off.

PS - loads of people don't even prepare for interviews, so you're already one step ahead

Thank you all. I don't seem to interview well. Teaching jobs are VERY tough to get here...so it gets very competitive. I have 2 degrees...graduated with honors with them both. I have 8 years experience teaching, 3 of them in special education. I have also worked with adults with disabilities. I have great letters of recommendation. I have fantastic recent evaluations. I have had 5 interviews in the past few months and am STILL stuck at this job I know isn't for me.

try making notes then and ways to improve whichever way you can before going for future interviews so you can always improve for future ones for different jobs/opportunities in teaching..

also probably not my place to say but if you're going for a teaching job you might want to make you're face pictures private given how some job employers might not be too happy with their employees being on swinging websites in their spare time.....just my advice OP not being judgemental just telling you how it can be.

good luck

Hey, I think asianmale might be onto something with the chilling for a bit.

You sound really motivated and it sounds like you've put a lot of pressure on yourself to do well. This is good, but it's also good to be kind to yourself and draw the line. If your head ain't in it, nothing is going to be accomplished

Big hugs and much luck for tomorrow lovely x

OP always remember they want you to be the right person for the job. It makes their life easier.

And if you got an interview then they think well of you already.

An interview is a two way conversation, remember that you might not want them.

And don't try any of that imagining them naked stuff. You might recognise them

As a Governor I have interviewed a few times. Tricky question ? Try......" that's an interesting question, let me think".

Guess you know about the school and the position you are applying for.

Smile, eye contact, friendly. I really would like to work here because.......

Deep breaths before you go in and remind yourself that you have tons of experience and the job should be yours....but don't sound desperate for any job to escape your current post.

Chill for a while and good luck. X

Thanks for all of the advice...as for not hiring me because I have face pics on here...they'd have to be here to see them. If they are here...they have no room to look down on me for it.

Good luck x

Most interviews will look for competency so they will ask you a question and they will want specific examples of when you achieved these things.

'Can you tell me about x'

'Yes last week I achieved x through...'

They will want a step by step walk through of how you achieved the desired target. If you can do this for every question you'll do well. Don't be vaigue, be specific
