I was thinking back to my school days, and school dinners...I always loved the pink custard we used to have with a pudding...and also my top favourite Manchester Tart.My mission tomorrow is to find a shop that sells this great delight, even if i have to cross over the border.

Only on very rare occasions in junior school did we have chocolate cake & pink custard - delicious! Good luck trying to find some - if you do let me know as I've searched for years & can't find any!

kinky land

Red food dye, top shelf next to the other food dyes.

Strawberry flavour, 2nd shelf, next to the peppermint essence, don't mix up the two

Urgh, all I can think about now is the aftermath of an overdose on pink custard that a fellow pupil had in primary 4.... Pink custard has never been the same for me!!

I used to love both of those puddings. I didn't have them at school though as I came home for lunchtime but my mum made them

Her pink custard was simply pink blancmange before it went cold and was allowed to set. We often had it with bananas

The manchester tart we had was a layer of pastry with a layer of jam over it them covered in custard which was allowed to set, sometimes it also had a sprinkling of coconut on the top

As a child we always had a proper pudding, never had fruit or yogurt for pudding unless the fruit was part of a fruit pie or crumble

1 pint of milk

1 pack of pink blancmange

2-3 tbs of sugar...depending on your taste

Really no need to go hunting for pink custard all day

Yes I'll dig them out tomorrow.

Pink custard is just normal custard with colouring and strawberry essence.

Like green custard mint flavour and green colouring. Chocolate custard powder with cocoa powder in it.

Custard powder sugar and milk. You can even cook it in the microwave.
