Probably more for the ladies, sorry chaps... but feel free to add your tuppence worth!
I'm thinking about getting a fringe cut into my hair. I've never had a fringe before but I feel the urge for a bit of a change. What's the worst that can happen? I can't decide if my face is too round for a fringe or not. Good idea/bad idea?
(It's not a first world issue, I'm aware but I need to think of something else for a while.) |

I love my bangs. I used to have traditional bangs that went across my forehead, but a hair stylist told me it covered too much of my face, so now I have side bangs that frame my face.
Why not try that at first so its not such a commitment, then go all out of it looks good?

"I've just got new specs and they're a bit different so I'm thinking I might just be a bit daring. It'll grow back right?! "
Yep, the wonders of hair. Get dem bangs to get some bangs
In all seriousness though, all you can do is try it and see if you like the new look. Worst case scenario, you don't like it til it's back |

Depending on your face shape will determine what fringe is best for you (apparently). I had a fringe cut in last year, made me look so much younger! I liked it though and may go back to it. So remember you were asked for ID for cigs, you'll be asked for it for buying a scratchcard now |

"I have a proper, straight across fringe cut in every now and again it grows out enough to be side swept within four weeks....DO IT! You know you want to."
I'm ignoring pube boy up there!
Is it not high maintenance though... I currently get my hair cut once a year! |

I might ask my hairdresser and see what she thinks. |

I have a fringe. I looke younger with it than without. And when I've had enough I just bobby pin it back out of my face. Or braid the front of my hair across. I do love it though |

Most hairdressers do fringe trims free so if you like it you won't have to pay out much and if you don't you won't be getting it cut much anyway. I get trimmed every six weeks though |

"I made an appointment!
Now I just have to not chicken out before Tuesday!
I've totally scrapped my six month rule!!
What's the worst that can happen? "
That's exactly my theory!!
On the plus side it's dark a lot of the time at the moment if it's hideous! |

Go for it. If you don't like it you can always clip it back.....you'll be surprised how quickly it grows too if youb really don't like it. Must be that time of year. I've been considering it for some time now |

I agree with bumblebea.
As an alternative post on here....I've on/off had a fringe many times. But I have eventually gotten fed up of it!
It was too heavy, got greasy quickly (yuk I know )
And I got fed up of it getting in my eyes after a few weeks.
And in the summer it drove me mad as I had a hot head!
Also when I wanted to grow it out...because I had a long bob it seemed to take years to grow out.
If you have shortish hair that's layered it's easier to grow out.
Sorry to be a downer....but I'd think before taking the plunge! |

Yes you should go for it, try something a little different.
At the moment I have a U shaped fringe, longer at the middle and it curves up shorter on each side, I really like it |

"Go for a grunge that way if u don't like it u can blend and less blunt as a fringe"
What's a grunge?
I've found a style I like on Pinterest but it's really hard to figure out if I'll suit it. I've never had a fringe. There's a bit of me that's just thinking fuck it! |

ive got a heavy side grunge, so a longer fringe down one side as I have a heavy side parting the other side is blended in. it works well for me as I have naturally curly hair.
if u google hollie willabhoughy she's got a grunge but hers is a mid one. |

Can you describe it? How long would it be, eyebrow length, half way down your forehead? Straight across, blunt cut or sort of feathered? Details woman, we need details. Have you got big eyes with longish eyelashes? |

If you look on Pinterest and seach 'the best bangs for your face shape' there's a photo of a girl with a white top on...
Have you not seen my chops? |

"What's the worst that can happen? "
The hairdresser uses a pair of scissors that was cursed. Your fringe becomes haunted with the ghost of Michael Winner. Everywhere you go you feel a sense of unease, dread and terror and hear 'Calm down dear, it's a commercial' every two minutes. It never stops. |

I have a round face so fringes are normally advised against but I had a super blunt heavy fringe cut in a couple of years ago and I bloody love it. When it gets too long and sticks under my glasses I get it trimmed and that's it. Without a doubt the easiest and most flattering haircut I have ever had. Embrace the fringe! Plus if you don't like it it'll grow. Might take a while to get as long as the rest of your hair but it'll give you face framing layers in the growing out process so it's win-win. |

There's a fine line between a fringe and a lego haircut. Be careful. Lol x |

Don't get one like Kate Middleton, she's just been on the news flicking it out of her eyes every 4 seconds during a speech, very distracting
I haven't had one for a few years, glad you're going for it! |

Are you curly or straight at the moment as it makes a difference?

Ok wondered why it makes a difference..? and I'm a professional...I had a bang and I straighten my hair or just leave it curly..if its cut to perfection either way would look great |

"i had one - huge mistake - curly hair and never sat right - took ages to grow up and would never cut one in again - but love them on other people"
I've grown my fringe out now my hair isn't straight. Fringes don't seem to do curly very well.... |

I haven't seen Kate's fringe but her flicky tongue is distracting enough with adding flicky fringe issues.
OP, have you done it? |
