Bought something off one of the online selling sites the other day & came home a few days later to find a card through the door saying I was out when they called.,
On closer inspection of the card it said your parcel has been left in the agreed place!!! Or something to that effect..
There was Garden scrawled on the top of the card & something that was unreadable!!!
I'm thinking I don't have a agreed place to leave parcels!!!
So I checked behind the bins in the front garden & nothing!!
On looking over the fence there was a is sitting in the middle of the paved area where the bloody lazy sod had thrown it!!!
Stern email to the company I think.. |

"If it's Amazon, use the online chat and they'll get you another sent out straight away. "
Nothing wrong with the product it's not really breakable!!
Just so annoyed of them just throwing it over the fence. |

Ok let me give the drivers perspective....
i arrive at the customers home for a delivery that they are expecting and should frankly be in for but nobody's in so do i A. return it to the depot where i may/will have to make the same trip again another day with no guarantee that the customer will be the second time because hey they wasn't the first time round Or B. Access the area and parcel to see if there is a safe place for you to leave it as YOU the customer was not in for something YOU arranged he was just trying to ensure you got the delivery, leaving packages with neighbours or in the garden is not uncommon aslong as the product is not damaged and you are left a delivery note to explain you was out so your parcel is here....
i bet you would prefer that rather than a note stating we tried to deliver your package but was unable now you have to pick it up from your local depot
really not having a dig at you just trying to give you the drivers point of view, you got your delivery it's not damaged at the end of the day so what's the problem |

They gave a four day delivery slot somewhere between those dates it would be delivered!!
There were no special instructions to leave it anywhere because I don't want it left outside my property!!
If I'm out I'll happily go collect it from a depot ..
I just don't want my parcel thrown over the fence into the middle of my paved area!! |

As an ex UPS driver I can honestly say no chance. This time of year is hell and gets worse up to and just after xmas. I was out delivering for up to 14 hours a day without a break. |

Ive had parcels left in same sort of fashion but in the pissing rain .
half the time there is no set date for items ordered online. so how can you arrange to be there. prime example order something on say the 5th delivery expected in the next 28 days..
ok i will take a month off work to sit and wait for said parcel only for it to turn up when i run out of milk and nip to the corner shop.
And breath |

well in that case you knew when it was coming and it was your responsibility to ensure someone was in for those 4 days then no?
Ok that's fair enough as long as you made that clear that if you're not in then you don't want it left anywhere (like i stated above i just think he was trying to do you and him a favour making sure you got delivery and saving him a return trip) but i get where you coming from i was trying to give a drivers perspective )
Maybe next time leave a note on the door if you go out "return parcel to depot i will collect do not leave anywhere"
you said yourself the product was not damaged and not really breakable but i agree it should not of been thrown over but if you did any of the above it wouldn't have come to that |

We had a delivery this afternoon while we were out, we didn't leave special instructions but he or she went into the back garden and left the things in our greenhouse in the dry. We're happy with that and hopefully so are they. |

To be fair leaving a note on your front door telling everyone that you're out isn't wise. |

I think being unhappy that it was thrown over a fence is acceptable. |

We both work for Royal Mail.
We could get the sack for doorstepping packets.
All those packets that get left on the door step in full view of the passing public, get rained on or found flung over gate because someone can't even be bothered to get as far as the front door get photographed and sent into the management.
The worst offenders I've seen are Hermes.
The customer always presumes it's us, we ask to see the lable and lo and behold it's the " competition ".
What a joke!.
Mind, I was talking to a Hermes driver the other day, he was retired and just doing it for a bit of pin money.
In two years he has gone from being asked to deliver 49 packets a day to 170 and can't cope, this is in a very rural area. |

Yes, we all have our own influences. I did praise the driver who delivered to us today up the thread |

not always the case. i ordered new helmet visor and at time was off work with my broken ankle. i saw delivery driver look straight at me through window as i was gettin my crutches. he didnt even have the visor but put not through door saying "no one in.. collect from their storage" so some are wankers. another time id got a oven door ordered which said fragile in big red letters all over the box and that was thrown over my 6ft gate onto a patio area. i know most are self employed and get paid per drop but when shit like that happens its a wonder they have job in first pkace |
