and his is where scottish and english law differentiates. Both me and the arsewipe (term of endearment for the ex) have a passport each for shorty.
When the aw wanted to take her on holiday over christmas and new year he actually had to ask for my written permission to do so. Should he have taken her out of britain then I could have got him done for kidnapping and vice versa if I do the same |

Abduction is illegal in England too. I THINK that mum has responsibility if they were NOT wed at time of birth ..If they were wed then there is joint resp and divorce does not end the resp. |

Thank you Granny xx I was quoting from my divorced scottish point of _iew as I don't know English law, but I know up here, you cannot take a child out of Britain without secondary (m/f) written consent

"S'okay tups ... im not sure on passports n kids.....
I know that divorced dads are still dads and never married dads aren't ... Mad innit. "
They are if they are put on the birth certificate, but there lies the problem...some at the time would rather not pay child support...but then later regret in later life (no inference on single dads, just my module in family law). Unfortunately although law is moving towards equal parental rights, giving birth gives women a better right/case for the child and their interests. X |

She was put into care by her mum her dad took her out but he has no time for her. He has a girlfriend too in mancester and before she and my daughter became friends spent most weekends on her own or at her nans. But now she spends her weekends with us. I have spoken to her mum and her attitude is that its not her problem. Could have smacked her one. I know its not the same but got a family holiday booked only at butlins but she is coming with us. |

I'd suggest doing as Granny says and take charge of getting both parents to sign the photos, if you know where they can be found.
If the mother says she can't be arsed doing it and it's a waste of her time, then tell her you'll be back hassling her every day until she does sign it. Then shove a Bic biro in her face and tell her to just sign the frigging thing to save time on everyone's part.
As for the father, tell him that you'll tell his new girlfriend that he's been shagging you behind her back unless he signs the goddamned photo right now.
It's amazing what you can achieve if you can manage to look a bit psycho and speak very sternly. |

Only if that person has been appointed as the legal guardian of the child I think you will find. |

Its nice that you care.
It seems all too common these days for parents to "abandon" their kids for their own short term satisfaction. |

There are some truly horrible people out there..I hate seeing kids go without due to selfish parents..christ they brought em into this world...surely they would do as much as they could to ensure they are happy.. |

There are no longer any frontier controls at the borders between 22 EU countries. This is thanks to the Schengen rules which are part of EU law. These rules remove all internal border controls but put in place effective controls at the external borders of the EU and introduce a common visa policy. All EU countries are full Schengen members except for Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania and the United Kingdom. You will therefore need to present a valid passport or ID card to travel to those five countries. Iceland, Norway and Switzerland are also Schengen members but are not in the EU.
When entering or leaving the EU at the external borders you will need a valid passport or an ID card.
Carry them when travelling in the EU because you may be required to prove your identity. If public order or national security so require, checks at the internal borders may be carried out for limited periods.
Make sure that any children travelling with you either have their own passport or ID card or are registered on your passport.
Agreements with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland enable their nationals to be treated in the same way as EU citizens and to travel with just an ID card or passport in the EU.

Who needs to sign it
The child's parent or someone with parental responsibility should sign the form.
If the parents are divorced but were:
married at the time of the child's birth (or when the mother became pregnant, for those living in Scotland)
married at any time after the child's birth
either parent can sign, unless there is a court order about parental responsibility or about the child having a passport. If there is such a court order you should send it to IPS with the application.
Note that a custody or maintenance order does not automatically take away the other parent's parental responsibility.
If the parents are not married to each other, the mother can give permission. If the father is not married to the child's mother (and is not divorced from her as described above), he can give permission only if:
he has a parental responsibility order or agreement (in which case he should send this with the application)
he is named on the birth certificate and the birth was jointly registered on or after 15 April 2002 in Northern Ireland, 1 December 2003 in England and Wales, 4 May 2006 in Scotland
If another adult is acting as parent they should send proof of their parental responsibility to IPS.
There is more information about parental responsibility in the parents section.
What is parental responsibility?
While the law does not define in detail what parental responsibility is, the following list sets out the key roles:
providing a home for the child
having contact with and living with the child
protecting and maintaining the child
disciplining the child
choosing and providing for the child's education
determining the religion of the child
agreeing to the child's medical treatment
naming the child and agreeing to any change of the child's name
accompanying the child outside the UK and agreeing to the child's emigration, should the issue arise
being responsible for the child's property
appointing a guardian for the child, if necessary
allowing confidential information about the child to be disclosed |

Not wanting to put ideas into peoples heads but the passport office dont ask for proof of the parents signature so if you were to think outside the box and put 2+2 together you will see that it's not an insurmountable problem.
My biggest concern at the minute would be getting the passport back on time. |

Until the parents complain and it becomes a very serious investigation. |
