"Not just me then.
P.s. Courtney, wrong thread. We don't want any festive cheer in here. Thank you.
"
You scrooges bring all of your mehness to the happy Christmas threads, so I am bringing some tinsel into yours.
Although, I will say that Christmas shouldn't start until after Thanksgiving, so I can agree with you there, at least.

"Booo! Christmas is awesome!!! A rare chance to get all of the family in the same place at the same time! (I know it doesn't have to be Chrimbo for that to happen but invariably it does!) Bring it on!

It's also the time that shows how isolated some of us are from Family. Christmas night I dread each and every year x |

"I'm undecided. I used to love it. Then we had a proper shitty year with family being twats and it really turned me against it. I want to like it but I struggle when it starts in August. " Yes thats exactly the time the Gift catalogues come through the door, late october into november would be better, to near december would be pushing it I think. |

Me too - desperately bad memories of childhood - I just want to escape from it all and never have to recognise it again...
But at least it means that the seasons have turned, and the sun will begin to emerge from behind the mountain soon, to bring the fresh breath of Spring...

I don't hate it, well actually I think I do here's why:
When you have kids it's 'magical' until a certain age: NO!! All that happens is the true spirit of Christmas is lost no matter how hard you try (bloody grandparents!), the stuff they do get, gets left round the house, trodden on and broke, you go bankrupt for January, only because you've bought so much food to feed a small country and don't get me started on 'whose coming to who', how many fucking chairs your missing. And that thing where your kids get up insanely early?! Nope not mine for the past 14 years I've had a lie in on Christmas Day
Then they get older, still you want a simple Christmas but instead of the grandparents buying large toys with those ties in and batteries they get the latest gadgets and who has to pay for monthly subscriptions? Us!!! Not to mention now I've split from the kids dad, I've got that awkward thing of having to spend the day with his mother who hasn't really liked me ever.
And don't get me started with those fucking Christmas adverts?!!
I'm going for a picnic on Brighton beach anyone want to come with me and eat sandwiches and be all hum bugs together?! |

I can get some pleasure from Christmas and it gives me a good reason to escape the UK in winter.
But generally not into a long drawn run-up to it, nor all the overdone hype and crap. If it was quiet and subtle, I'd be more in favour of it. But I did love it as a kid. |

I used to absolutely love Christmas. Then my Mum died and Dad married a cold, heartless woman.
(And I'm not just saying that. I don't bad mouth her, just say what she's said and people generally go "Omg what a bitch!")
Anyway, she's one of those who likes to blot out the Man's previous family and life. Sadly he goes along with it. So, despite living 20 mins from them, I spent last Christmas on my own |

"Rather than 12 weeks"
10/10
*claps*
Why does two fucking days have to account for 25% of the year?
The whole "make Christmas the most magical Christmas ever this year"
If it keeps getting anymore magical year on year it'll spontaneous combust into fucking Hogwarts soon enough!! *insert rage emoticon here* |

I don't hate Christmas however I'm not religious so I don't feel like I should celebrate it, but we do because if you have kids you feel pressured into it by society, I really don't see why I'm buying gifts to celebrate an event I don't even believed happened but when all the other kids are getting gifts how can you leave yours out |

Christmas depresses me because I'm on my own without my partner and family, I've spent the last eight Christmases alone. BUT every year I force myself to look on the bright side, I'm alive, I've got two days off work, I can sleep in as long as I like, I don't have to endure the company of relatives I don't like, I can eat all the quality streets, no one will make me eat brussel sprouts, I choose what to watch on telly AND I can make Christmas dinner for my cats and hang stockings on the mantle for them with hand made presents inside.....and no one is around it witness the crazy cat ladyness......so it's not all bad! |

From as far back as I remember it's always been a disappointment, much prefer Halloween, no religious rubbish attached to it, it's a fun day for kids and it's over in one day. You can't accidently offend family or friends. It doesn't cost a fortune... What's not to love |

Same here, but I'm working, so it's just another day.
I don't have a day off between now and the new year, I'm on call 24/7 and I can't be more than an hour from the office while I'm on call.
Where's that bloody violin emoji thingy?

On a personal note i love Christmas. but sadly my dad is in a bad way and may not see the new year.
i have had other relatives and a good friend die around Christmas time. it doesn't make me dislike christmas as when i think of them i think of the good times. This more so if my dad doesn't make it as he loved christmas so much and always made it special when we were kids |
