Anyone else like to get on their high horse about poor grammar and spellings? Or am I just a miserable git? (Tiny would say the latter!)

What are your pet hates? Mine are: "defiantly" instead of "definitely" and "could of" instead of "could have".

Let the snobbery commence

If an initial message is full of incorrect grammar and punctuation I delete. I know it will annoy me further on down the line and I wouldn't be able to sit on my hands.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

"Misuse of apostrophes. "

Don't watch the new Man from UNCLE film...

I admit I'm fairly particular about SPAG, although it's more OCD than snobbery.... and I try and overlook obvious typo's in immediate comms like forum posts - mainly due to the number I make while typing on my phone.

There, their, they're, easy enough but so many get them wrong. The others include could of instead of could have or text speak.

Quickly checks own post for misuse of apostrophes etc.

It is ironic when, being such a stickler, you fall into autocorrect territory...even worse, having fabswingers.Co.UK in your phone dictionary! Can't tell you how many people have nearly received that in a text!

"Lack of paragraphs really irritates me!"

You could say.

A shortage of correctly parsed phrases, in written communication.

Is one of the things that phases me.

Of course it is equally annoying to find forced paragraphs, when none are required.

The exclamation mark should come after the bracket.

I know, there's some shockingly poor grammar, spelling and syntax in this thread.

Only if the brackets had been embedded within a sentence

I'm not a snob about it and if I struggle to make sense of something, I would eventually give up. My writing is often fairly low standard - especially when I'm tired and using my phone with autocorrect and predictions that I fail to manage.

There are lovely people out there who don't speak in the same way that they write. It's sad to write them off, purely out of our rigidity or intolerance.

I loathe those who use methodology instead of method to try to sound more imposing.

Methodology is the STUDY of methods.

Never trust any writer who talks about the methodology he employed. He is just an ignorant, pretentious, bull shitter.
