I haven't listened to the Beatles in years and can't remember which I preferred, but at a live performance Jimi Hendrix did a cover of lonely hearts club band when he found out John and Paul were gonna be in the audience |

"In My Life. "
Listen to Johnny Cash's version of this. I can guarantee you it will have you wishing you heard it years ago. It's a song that really suits an older man's voice. |

The whole of the Magical Mystery Tour album works for me. A great mix of styles and pieced together so well.
Love Revolution from the white album too. Sort of a cross between their early sixties stuff and punk! I accidentally put Revolution Number 9 on a jukebox by mistake once, and the pub landlord thought there was something wrong with the machine. |

I love the song Rain
Tomorrow Never Knows and Day in the Life are other favourites.
I know it's heresy, but I hate Hey Jude.
Slight tangent, but listen to Aretha F sing the Long and Winding Road and Let it Be. Stunning. |

Yesterday has got to be up there, and Let-It-Be, too.
There's loads that I really like, although many Beatles songs were even better when covered by others.
With a little help from my friends, a great song.... but obviously the Cocker version is million times better, such incredible "feel".

Ive just youtubed that. Omg. After my initial 2 seconds in thinking no this doesnt work, hes killed it...... i kept listening and my mind suddenly changed. What an awsome version. Ur right it really does suit an older and wiser mans voice, sounds like he wrote it from the heart and expressed it his way.
Wow. Thanks for that share. |

Although i said 'I am a walrus' is my fav I don't actually like the Beatles at all. I just like the title of that one. I find all if the songs bland and boring. It's more my parents thing than mine tbh ! |

Am I alone in thinking get back!
It works for me just on Ringo's cha cha cha cha drumming although the roof top performance with get back and don't let me down really gets your 60s juices flowing |

I love most of there stuff but for me it the more whacko that grabs me especially their B sides like.
Rain b side of Paperback writer
Inner Light: Lady Madonna
You know my name: Let it Be
Interesting thing about Let It Be that was the last time a Beatle recorded as a Beatle, George laid down the guitar solo for the album version, a wailing guitar to annoy Paul, well for me that is the definitive version, he nailed it.

Yes he nailed it, but not to annoy Paul. Paul was at the session and that was the bluesy type of solo he wanted.
It was Pauls song. Do you really think he would have used it if he didn't like it?
His guitarist always plays it similarly live, even now. |

Lots of good song to choose from - but I'd say the beginning of Helter Skelter, is possibly their most exciting moment.
When I get to the bottom, I go back to the top of the slide.
Where I stop and I turn and I go for a ride.
Til I get to the bottom and I see you again
