Yeah you get it from sunlight exposure. Apparently the skin cancer awareness programs have gone a bit far and so now are saying it is ok to spend 15 minutes in the sun without protection on for that reason.

There is also possible links with low vitamin D levels to parkinsons. It may also protect against some types of cancer.

I have vitamin supplements with vitamin D and calcium in them.

North Bristol

We have an excellent diet but my ferratin (iron stores - not the same as being anemic) are 50% of what they should be. I now have to take 2 lots of iron supplements to correct this. The doctor had no idea why this is.

I think vitamins are a good idea for everyone. There's no way of knowing what you're low in, and many peoples diets these days are, quite frankly, shocking.

We often see old ladies on the seafront with bow legs.

It must be a condition born out of force of habit!

I take a multi-vitamin and calcium.

Don't know what they do, whether they work or why I actually take them other than my trainer recommended them.

Now I'm in the habit but I dare say they won't do me any harm.

I also have a vit d deficiency. I had to go for a bone density scan as docs originally thought it was osteoporosis. I now actually have to get injections every 2 months.

I'd be better off going to the vet and getting put down!!!!!!

think it's ten mins of sunlight per day, but does not have to be open sunshine, filtered through cloud works just as well.

you do have to have the correct vitamins in your body already though to get the conversion.

very important for babies, especially.
