Why you all paying mad amounts and spending ages at the hair salon?
I just cut a ladies hair and it took about a min, literally, and it looks damned good too, second hair cut I've given I think now...
I reckon hairdressers ham up how hard it is |

I don't, I go to the hairdressers when I can afford it. Which is about once every six months. A lady I know spends £70 every two weeks on getting her hair done then complains she is broke! |

I can understand having to pay more for a senior stylist but why so much money?! It's just a haircut!!! If your in there hours and hours I can justify the cost (last time i went to the hairdressers three months ago it cost me £45.20 and I was there three hours getting my hair dyed and cut, no frigging blow dry though, I thought that was quite reasonable) but those that are over a hundred quid?! |

Did that with an ex years ago at my mum and dads house...couldn't do it in the bathroom as they were in so in the bed with a bowl of water..
Not as kinky as one first hoped :/ just a wet foamy bed and cloggy disposable razor.
Poor girl..... |

"Oh if I had only known it was so easy I wouldn't have spent years at college I could have just bought the salon along with scissors....
No way would I let anyone who isn't qualified go near my hair with a comb let alone scissors and you should see some of the sights I have had to repair from people who assume its just a pair of scissors and a comb "
She just uses comb and scissors on mine.! |

Mine is £45 for the cut but they do have a lovely super duper relaxing massage chair and I go so infrequently it's a treat for me. Do my own colour so that's £5 a month.
I'm missing my long hair today, so I might put in my hair extensions (cost £90 a few years back and worth every penny ) |

Back in the day when I had more than a pound in my purse on a regular basis I used to pay £85+ every couple of months for my cut and highlights. Now I let my daughter cut a few inches off the bottom and buy a £5 hair dye. Yes,there's a difference. |

It's not always a pair of scissors and a comb. Frequently it's even less tools....... |

"I don't usually do hair, spend most of my time in wigs so it's been super short for years.
But I've grown it out a little recently. No idea what to do with it now "
I found headbands handy for letting it grow out. Can move a lot more hair about than with clips or bobbles and it gives you a chance not to think about your hair while waiting for it to grow more.
My hairs really long and i don't really do anything with it except plaits or tie back the sides. Dunno why i grew it really. |

I've got a theory. Once you get to a certain age, there are 3 things you shouldn't scrimp on.
A good haircut.
Well fitting bra.
Decent moisturiser.
Now, I'm not suggesting that you should spend a fortune on any of them. Just that these items make a difference! |

"Excuse the passport photo look... But there ya go...
is it supposed to be longer on one side than the other?"
I just noticed that in the pic too. It's not actually longer on one side it's just the angle.
I've been complaining about my hair for weeks. It's so knotty and dead on the ends so it's just horrible. I thought I'd be better off getting him to do it for me instead of doing it myself xD
I don't know many people in the area, so it's expensive salon prices for me. Or just get christos to do it |

I spent 65. On my hair every 8 to 10 weeks. Not gone for age. As tthe kids dad has been messing about when he has the kids. I got a under cut which gets shaved every week. I normally get a friend or the bloke to do the bits I can't see |

My son asked me to cut his hair. It was bloody awful and he had to go to school the following day and I was going to take him to barbers after school. Well school called me to ask if I could bring a hat in for him to wear....
Not let me near his hair since. |

Anywhere between £45-£100 depending on what I'm having done, every 8-12 weeks.
When I was I having it straightened that was apprx £150 on top twice a year. |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I only do mine every six months. It takes me that long to decide that it's getting so heavy that I can't lift my head (a bit too Crystal Tips for my liking).
£50-65 seems fair for an hour of their time, the water, the products, paying to sit in the massage chair and the styling chair which both sit in a building that has rent and rates charges.

A friend does mine for free
She's a qualified hairdresser and I wouldn't leg anyone unqualified anywhere near my hair...
Though I do normally dye it myself.
I have to say though that if you can afford a really good stylist it is worth it - up to a point. I twice paid for very good cuts when I had short hair and if made a huge difference to the style staying in place .
