switch everything of. Then switch it back on one at a time till goes again. It might be a neural to earth fault. |

"A faulty element in your oven or hob can cause the electrics to trip - I have the same whenever I try to use my big oven, the element is old, but it works ok, but keeps tripping the breaker."
if the breaker is tripping then it means it's not working ok |

It's a well known symptom of an old element - doesn't mean it's leaking live mains voltage on to the appliance or to earth - modern consumer unit RCDs are very sensitive and will trip with a minute residual current.
I appreciate they are designed like this to err on the side of caution, which is why I don't use the big oven at the moment until I get round to replacing the element. |

an RCD is not the same as a breaker .... wether it's leakage or not is irrelevant as the fault is obviously enough for it to trip. the cpd is there to protect the cable not the oven after all. |

Not sure what the problem is.everything is off,and unplugged but still trips when i try putting the kitchen sockets back on.. |

instead of switching them on one at a time and leaving each one on as you do it, try pulling out all the plugs to every device. put all the rocker switches on the socket fronts to off. make sure the mcbs and the rcd are all on. flick on the rocker switches one by one. if eveything is good so far then plug each device in and flick the rocker switch on and see what happens. then unplug it and move on to the next device. do this with the lights both on and off. boring i know but it is the simplest way of testing without a multifunction tester. good luck. |
