My ex mother-in-law had a complete bone marrow transplant 18 months ago and she's been told today it hasn't worked.
She's been told she'll 'see Christmas' but much beyond that is uncertain. I have to tell my two boys that their Nana is going to die.
Ex and I have sort of prepared for this over the last 18 months just in case the procedure was unsuccessful so it's not a total surprise.
But still, what a massive pile of shit. |

Sorry to hear this lovely lady. It is so hard having that talk. I've been there and had to tell my own children that my Mum was dying. It's heartbreaking but it is important to be honest with them in my opinion.
It took two years for the grieving process to start properly with my eldest as its a very individual thing how we react to losing a loved one. All you can do is be there for them and let them create special memories in the meantime.
I'm always around if you need a chat.

Sorry to hear the bad news Nell, had a similar experience with a family member a couple of years back. Just focus on getting through each day and try not to think too far ahead, thinking of you and yours

It's a massive pile of shit before, during & after, as a family tho you pull together & get thru it.
I don't know how old your children are but in my experience keeping mine informed of events made them as best prepared as they could be when the inevitable sadly happened
Big hugs xx |

the one thing that I did tell them was they was very poorly
the one thing I will say is treasure every day that you have and make the best of it with smiles

Depends on their age, but personally I probably wouldn't tell them. Make sure you all make as much of Christmas as you can, then just support them when the time comes.
Best wishes to you. X |

I am so sorry to hear your news.It will not be an easy conversation to have but happy that you have time to explain to the children. We unfortunately didn't. I'm sure you will find the right words.. Hugs. Red |
