| |||
| |||
"BMW or Mercedes " Thats what i thought it would be too but we have a winner lol Audi it is
"Audi?" yay you win!!! | |||
"Audi?" I would have said Audi. Worst drivers ever. Fact
| |||
"BMW or Mercedes Thats what i thought it would be too but we have a winner lol Audi it is " Oh....must have posted this while my phone was having some special time
"I'm a ford focus driver and I tailgate!!! I tailgate muppets who drive 20 mph under the speed limit for the road and then watch them speed through villages. Think they're accelerator is stuck on 40mph!!! " Ah the good old 40 drivers i hate them too ppl that do 40 mph regardless of the limit

"BMW or Mercedes Thats what i thought it would be too but we have a winner lol Audi it is Oh....must have posted this while my phone was having some special time " Lol your right anyways heres what i come up with so far At least 40% of tailgaiters- audi 20% high end vw eg:passat etc 20% boyracer types eg golfs clios etc Then the rest other but often transits,bmw,merc etc Like i say these are not actual facts just my findings from taking not over last few months

"Also i might buy an audi and see if just owning one makes me tailgate or see if its something a lot more complicated " Careful....for all the money they cost it appears their indicators don't work
"Also i might buy an audi and see if just owning one makes me tailgate or see if its something a lot more complicated Careful....for all the money they cost it appears their indicators don't work " It might just be that the brakes on them are that good they can just cut the two second rule into quarters further investigation needed lol
"Also i might buy an audi and see if just owning one makes me tailgate or see if its something a lot more complicated Careful....for all the money they cost it appears their indicators don't work " That's because they're optional extras on almost all cars these days.
| |||
| |||
"Audi drivers, save money on wing mirrors by using the car in front's " Pmsl so there not tailgaiters their just pretty savvy
| |||
| |||
"When i had my 2 seater it was a magnet for tailgaters , now ive got a 4x4 i very rarely get any, maybe its because the tow bar will go through a radiator very easily if i accidently apply the brakes too hard" What make was the 2 seater? Also for information purposes i drive a skoda fabia estate so i would tailgate but just cant kerp up
| |||
"I'm surprised the BMW drivers weren't nearer the top? Perhaps I'm just bmw'ist! " Either that or audi driver are ex-bmw drivers keeping up with the times
"I'm surprised the BMW drivers weren't nearer the top? Perhaps I'm just bmw'ist! Either that or audi driver are ex-bmw drivers keeping up with the times " PMSL hadn't thought of that! Good point!
"Speed limits are exactly that.....limits. They're not targets. Maybe the 40mph brigade feel their safest driving at that speed. It's for us to exercise patience until you can safely overtake." if they feel safest at 40 in a 60 maybe they need more driving lessons
"Speed limits are exactly that.....limits. They're not targets. Maybe the 40mph brigade feel their safest driving at that speed. It's for us to exercise patience until you can safely overtake." So driving at 40 through a school 20mph is safe? that's the thing they drive at 40 no matter what! That's why they're called the "40mph brigade"

| |||

"i popped my brakes on today as someone was up my rear. he soon decided he was too close yes I know youre not supposed to do it but I'm in still in trauma when I'm driving after a car jacking last month...." What car was it that was too close?
| |||

"According to the Audi safety manual (presented to all owners) safe distance in good weather is 4 inches from the vehicle in front, for extra safety you must have your full beam headlights and fog lights on. In bad weather, particularly heavy fog, that distance is increased to 7 inches but lights should be turned off. At no point should you ever use your indicators or drive in a manner that reflects you're a member of the human race..." Pmsl

"Normally its one of the corporate supplied germanic cock extensions " Oh yes agreed think that sums it up
"Maybe the 40mph brigade feel their safest driving at that speed" Here! You said the 40mph brigade feel safest driving at that speed! Well as I said they are called the 40mpg brigade because the drive at that speed regardless of what the speed limit is! It is illegal and unsafe to drive at 20 mph under the speed limit. If you did that on your driving test you would fail. As someone else said if they aren't comfortable driving near to the speed limit, they shouldn't be on the road. If the road conditions are poor then fair enough, lower your speed. I don't like people who speed everywhere either

However its not illegal. As for failing your test for not driving with the traffic flow or a dangerous lack of confidence thats possible. As said driving below the limit whenever/wherever aint illegal. Someone might simply be driving to the conditions in front of them or what they are comfy with. If that means half the limit to them then thats how it is, nothing illegal.
"For the Last few months ive been taking note of the make of car that is either tailgaiting me or someone else whilst im out and about on the road.anyone wants my results so far also who can guess what make? Its not what i thought it would be " Is it confirmation bias? It's confirmation bias isn't it?

Do 20mph on a motorway where everyone else is doing 70mph with no good reason. And I suspect you'd be being pulled over

"From the learners guide (.co.uk) " Inappropriate speed – You should drive at a speed suitable for each road and not unnecessarily hold up traffic. Driving too slow is likely to marked as a driving fault and driving much slower than necessary is the 10th most common reason for failing the driving test." " so if you can fail your test for it, it proves it's unsafe driving and if it's not, then it damn well should be illegal

"Audi? yay you win!!!" Yay. I spend far too much time driving and yep the tosspot is always the Audi driver I must add not all Audi drivers are tosspots!!
"Audi? yay you win!!! Yay. I spend far too much time driving and yep the tosspot is always the Audi driver I must add not all Audi drivers are tosspots!!" No not all of them are also not all of tailgaiting audi drivers are male either

"I'm a ford focus driver and I tailgate!!! I tailgate muppets who drive 20 mph under the speed limit for the road and then watch them speed through villages. Think they're accelerator is stuck on 40mph!!! " the amount of obvious speed signs they pass and still don't speed up drives me mad

"Through my experience I think a fair amount of blame can be laid at the person in front of the Audi too. I drive 3 cars, a BMW an Audi and an aston martin. In the bm or the Audi I have experienced people deliberately getting in the way and slowing, rude hand gestures for no reason as I pass and general hostility. In the Aston people get out the way on the motorway way before I get there, I get waves and thumbs up. I'm the same person in all of them and drive them all the same way." Whats your opinion on why they do that? The hand gestures and hostility i mean i havent experienced that in the 16 years ive been driving and ive drove countless different cars also whats other peoples opinions of why that could be im stumped for answers
"Has Anyone EVER Been Tailgated by a Nissan Micra !!! " No but I remember when I was learning to drive some muppet over took me on a 30 road doing 40, then we him the national speed limit on a single carriage way which is……? I ended up having to slow down as he was going even slower than me.

Born through some people's experience and in some cases Brand jealously. I'd also wager you see more bm's and audis on the motorways / dual carriage ways than other brands. Personally I've experienced tail gaiting from most brands possibly more so souped up Japanese hatches and you don't often hear people moaning about them. My original point is its the driver not the car.

"they should make it against the law to tailgate and allow the use of force to stop the crime . and have some sort of insurance system that pays out £3500 to you every time this happens and also raises the premiums of the offenders insurance policy " It is against the law as it's all dangerous driving.
| |||
"Has Anyone EVER Been Tailgated by a Nissan Micra !!! " I was tailgated by a Micra the other day because I was doing 30 mph in a 30 limit and it wasn't quick enough for him. It's the drivers that tailgate not the car, although those drivers with the propensity to tailgate do tend to drive more powerful penis extentions, such as Audi.
"Every time on any forum when bas driving comes up everyone has a pet hate about how someone else drives. Personally, I do get hacked off at peoples antics, but if we all drove perfectly it would be the most boring thing in the world. As a long distance biker and driver I just love the challenge. And I love it when conditions deteriorate with snow, rain and particularly fog.. Gotta love challenges.." You are correct, of everyone drone perfectly there would be less accidents and that is a good thing. My point was that won't happen. Too much ego and too little interest in driving properly. I get a kick when I see a situation developing and manage to avoid it. I have a huge interest in driving well, and the challenge to avoid both bad drivers and situations is a skill more drivers should interest themselves in.

"Speed limits are exactly that.....limits. They're not targets. Maybe the 40mph brigade feel their safest driving at that speed. "Speed limits are exactly that.....limits. They're not targets. Maybe the 40mph brigade feel their safest driving at that speed. It's for us to exercise patience until you can safely overtake." Yes but it is annoying when they overtake in a town because you've doing 30 and they are unsafely breaking the limit doing 40 only to then be stuck behind them later because they're still doing 40 when it's legal and safe to be doing 60.

I fully agree it's annoying. For me personally though, after years of spending my waking hours on the road....covering up to 50-60k a year I used to get so stressed over others poor habits etc that I'd arrive at home wound up beyond belief and generally a miserable fucker. Now I'm much more pragmatic and let the morons do what they do and make sure I adhere to rules. Driving is much more pleasurable and infinitely less stressful. Oh and I arrive probably a few minutes later than I would if I were trying to hit speed limits.

Well as I said they are called the 40mpg brigade because the drive at that speed regardless of what the speed limit is! It is illegal and unsafe to drive at 20 mph under the speed limit. And I suspect you'd be being pulled over " Although there is no minimum speed limit on the majority of UK roads, you can still be fined for driving too slow if it is seen that you are a hazard to other road users. motorist may find themselves in court charged with driving without due care and attention or without reasonable consideration for other road users. This can carry up to 9 points on their license. Finally, where a minimum speed limit is posted (light blue circle with a number on it, you may have seen then on some tunnels and bridges) then going below that speed is as much of an offence as overspeading.

"Ok not going to sit and read every reply on here so sorry for the generalisation. If you tailgate your a dick regardless of the speed of the car in front. Trying to explain to a court or police officer why you caused a major rta because the person in front was not driving fast enough, will not stand up. Secondly it's called a speed limit, not a speed maximum. Ie you don't have to drive at 70 just been because it says 70mph limit. Dive to the roaf and weather /traffic conditions. I see some shocking driving, it's not gender age,or vehicle specific. I am by no means perfect but been driving for almost 30 years in past 15 do on average 70-80 thousand a year. So seen my fair share of dicks. Tailgating Is for morons. As is undertaking. Rant over. Btw Please crack on feel free to try to justify doing it, whatever you say will never be right. End of rant " Sorry speed limit, not speed guideline I meant to say.

" There are more and more cases were the person in front is being held responsible for collisions to their rear. The fallacy of the old rule of thumb that the person behind was at fault has been rejected in the light of fraudulent claim gangs and wider use of dash cams. If you apply your breaks for no good reason and cause another vehicle to go into the back of you you are responsible and, if they have witnesses or a dash cam that proves this was the case, you will be held liable and possibly prosecuted for driving with our due care and attention or possibly even dangerous driving. It is never your right to try and police how other people drive. If you feel someone else is driving too close to you you should either gradually slow down and increase the distance between yourself and any vehicle in front of you to compensate or move over and let them pass. Anything else is potentially dangerous and probably illegal.

At no point should you ever use your indicators or drive in a manner that reflects you're a member of the human race..." Lol, that must apply to many tailgaters. Yea, I know they'll be people who tailgate even in FOG, how damn stupid is that. Drive to the conditions also. I really don't know why some drive as if there at brands hatch etc, overtaking, undertaking, all crazy/uncalled for. Seen 2 twats driving like they both had a death wish recently, going straight from "on ramp" on motorway right out to fast lane in 1 move and NO indication. Just cause your car has like 300hp + doesn't mean you drive it like Lewis Hamilton. There are speed limits etc for a reason

All I can say is the quality of driving in this country is sh** and when you see its a so called mature driver not some young lout I just give up, just remember tailgate me its not my wagon and I will not be comming off worst ha ha.

"It has been proven when being tailgated by a wanker, if you hit the brakes and cause an accident you get a _educed pay out. Only good thing about the dashcam is that the police will use it to prosecute the driver of both cars." and yet this did not happen, pop
At no point should you ever use your indicators or drive in a manner that reflects you're a member of the human race..." ?? so true
