Remember, remember!
The fifth of November,
The Gunpowder treason and plot;
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot!
Guy Fawkes and his companions
Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
All up alive.
Threescore barrels, laid below,
To prove old England's overthrow.
But, by God's providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
A stick and a stake
For King James's sake!
If you won't give me one,
I'll take two,
The better for me,
And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn'orth of cheese to choke him....
Ahh those damn Catholics, if only we had a patsy to be caught match in hand!
Time flys but it never changes! |

To be fair though, back then the Catholics were a bit of a handful. The Gunpowder plot was only the latest in many attempts to reverse England's change to C of E. Just ask the Oxford Martyrs how kind and Christian they were

"Mmm cornish pasty
Psst I do realise the word is patsy. I don't always call out/ type out pastry produce. Just so you know. "
Don't worry, I do it often. Someone had an awful dilemma recently. I recommended pie.
