Is there anything that can actually be done? I'm still fending off multiple bitchy texts, including a last one telling me to run if I see her, which comes across as awfully threatening to me... would the police actually be able to do anything, even if she's had recent run ins with the police?

"Why don't you ask them?"

She feeds off attention, that's how she gets her kicks. If I tell her to stop, which I have in the past, she doesn't.

All jokes aside if you have messages of threats this is more than enough for you to go to the police with x

"Can't you block the number ?"

I can't on my phone. I can block incoming calls & I don't get notifications from her texts.

By them- I meant the police, not the woman.

You do seem to attract hassle in your life

Ring your local station for advice. Or block her if you don't feel you can approach them.

If you phone your provider I think they may be able to block her number for you.

She's my "special friend's" ex and she's always given me grief.

Do you ignore the messages ?

Yeah, I always ignore them, I don't want to show her the attention she wants.

Get a civil injunction against her.

But go to the police first so you can get advice from them.

Police they'll do a pin notice "stop contacting this person" basically then if they break that they'll look at prosecuting.

But just block the number on your phone set it to spam messages too that way they all go to a hide folder for evidence but your phone doesn't tell you they're there unless you go looking

You should message her and say

Please do not contact me at all. Any further messages telephone calls or attempt to contact will be _iewed as harassment and reported to the police.

Then ignore completely. Block what you can and if continues report to police. But they will just tell you do the above.

To get a civil injunction will cost you

It takes literally 30 seconds

What phone is it?

Even of its so old that it doesn't have the functionality as part of ios or Android, there are apps that will do it too.

Dont reply to anymore messages or send. Take to police, they will do PIN - warn her to stop. If she persists she will be arrested and the issue investigated further. It will be crimed, give your phone company the crime number and they will block her number or change your number for you. End of.

a friend had a similar problem. had they reported it as a "normal" person. nothing would have happened. so they reported it as a "gay" person. and it was treated as a hate crime.
