I hear Susie Wolf is calling it a day and retiring from motorsport, what a shame she didn't get a real crack at F1.I was hoping the williams team would give her the chance to kick some butt...it would of been a sponsor's dream...why aren't women given the chance to complete at the highest levels.Having raced motocross when I was younger with both male and female riders I don't understand it. |

There has previously been female f1 test drivers, there was one lady who could have made it, I can't remember her name, unfortunately she crashes during test season and lost her vision, I also believe she may have sadly passes away since.
That is the only female I know of in f1, hopefully more will come along in the future |

"I think the simplest answer is they're not good enough. If they were then they'd get there chance.
"
F1 has little to do with talent and more to do with how much money you bring to the team. |

Less women get into motorsports than men so statistically there is always less of a chance, and there's a smaller talent pool.
Plus I'd imagine at the kind of speeds and forces these cars go through a bit more physical strength might give men the edge. |

F1 and motocross are light years apart. |

That too, don't most of drivers of the minor team cars bring huge sponsors with them to fund said team? |

I think that it is mostly to do with there not being enough girls in motorsport at a junior level. If you look in the US there are more women in motorsports but very few are there other than to make sponsors happy (as happens in F1 - look at Carmen Jorda at Lotus this year!). If there was a fast enough woman driver I think she would make it to F1 but too few women start in karting so... |

Let's face it though a good female driver would need to rent a truck to drag all her sponsors with her |

Hello all,
is there the interest by ladies to race motor cars? I've spectated for decades, mostly at club races and the number of lady drivers is very small, enough that it is a surprise when one competes.
Unless they start at the lower levels there is little chance of participation in the prime formulas.

Having a family background in motorsport, I can categorically state its nothing to do with ability. She was an exceptional driver.
Its purely money. He who brings in the most, gets the seat. There are soooo many drivers miles beyond the ability of the current F1 grid that are not racing simply due to not having financial backing. Look at Max Chilton, his father has ploughed millions into his career - and we are talking near 3 numbers in front of all those zeros. His dads money started running out, now hes not in F1 anymore. |

I'd love to see women F1 drivers - I'd take an interest in it again!
As it is, the sport is just so full of prissy, spiteful, attention-grabbing bitches (the drivers and the bosses!) that it would be nice to see them balanced by sensible women who could get there because of merit...
Never forget Pat Moss who took on all the men in world-class rallying and beat the lot of them.!!!

Why are they...both forms of racing are very physical |

No! F1 drivers may experience more G but are not exposed to the same risks of broken bones etc that MX RX riders. No where near. (just don't leave JCB in the gravel trap...) |

"How did her lap times compare to the other drivers in her team? Simple rule is, if you aint good enough, you will never get a seat...how many other male racers never make it?"
This is very much far from the truth, there are people who are good enough and proved it but just don't have the money behind them to buy a seat, and then there are people who clearly are not good enough but have millions of pounds in backing and can buy their seat |
