Oh, actually one I can mention was my mum's best friend hanging herself when I was 19. I found out in the worse way possible too. I was working with her son at the time, and I overheard her say "shall we donate some flowers to Tom's mum's funeral?" I asked if she meant Tom as in the one we worked with, and... yeah. She was like a second mum to me and I've never really gotten past it... |

My daughter passed away when she was 8.
She was in hospital at the other end of the country.
I was in a pub, d*unk, going through the worst spell of my life.
The self imposed guilt stayed with me for years. |

Not sharing on here but huge hugs to everyone who has. Sadly most of us will have some really tragic stories to tell to varying degrees - it's part of life and death unfortunately - the difficult part is moving on afterwards! Good luck everyone! |

My first husband dying in a motorway accident when I was twenty.
Getting divorced from husband number 2 , being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, losing mum to heart problems and dad to cancer all within a year in 2000.

Mine is a day trip compared to some.
Being told I had testicular cancer.
Being made partially blind, by a mate with an air pistol.
My grandparents dying separately and not being allowed to go to either of their funerals, I was in my teens when that happened. |

Loosing my son when he was 20 months old
My second was nearly loosing my daughter when she was 18, they took her down for a full hysterectomy because the infection was so bad they said if it got into her bloody stream she would have died, they gave her a 50/50 chance of surviving the operation, I had to sign the consent forms because she was so ill she didn't understand what she was signing for, I cried my heart out after I signed it because I knew I was signing away every chance of her having children but after loosing one child there was no way I was loosing another, waiting for her to come out of theatre was the longest day of my life, every time somwbody walked out I prayed they wasn't coming to tell me she hasn't made it
Both experiences I could have lived without |

This could have been such a sad thread, some sad stories and experiences for sure, but such strength and among the heart wrenching, tales of great spirit and endurance.
To everyone who has endured great tragedy, I salute you for your resilience.
Respect. |
