How to help a blind person without leaving your house

Just look for an Ap called BE MY EYES. When you are sitting at home watching TV and relaxing just have it loaded. When a blind person needs help they use their mobile phone to ask for help. Every one who is logged in gets a beep. First person to answer becomes their eyes. They use a video conference to ask you to help. It could be something as simple as, what colour is this shirt. Or they may have dropped their house keys and ask you to help. You just tell them the colour or you just say things like, left a bit, up a bit, right in front of you.

I could never imagine losing my sight to the extent of every day things. I tried walking round the house with my eyes shut but gave up. A blind person can not. It is a great app and it is good to know you are helping less fortunate people with little effort. To you it is 5 minutes of your time. To them it could be an hour of looking.

And it cost nothing.... Good on ya. If you look at the forum you will see another one I have running for helping someone sleeping rough get the right help for somewhere to live (once again, costs you nothing). Have a look for it.

I've just downloaded it but I'm on an iPhone. Still called 'Be My Eyes' in the App Store.

Ok I have just read the website and it does say that once signed up you get calls when someone asks for help. If you do not want to be disturbed you tell the app. Calls are not received after 10pm. (although I would not mind as blind people still may need help at night so hopefully they will alter the settings)

ANDROID..... Ok if you go to the Be My Eyes website and click on FAQ, part of the way down there is a section you can put an e-mail address in and be notified when the Android version is available. At the moment it says there is no idea for a WINDOWS version.

Get her signed up then. It is great to be able to help people like her. Losing sight must be terrible.
