Help please, gas engineers

Just got back from being away and my gas went out while I was gone. I don't even know where my new pilot light is let alone set it.

It's a valiant boiler.

I am not an engineer but there is probably a panel on the front of the boiler which drops down. Inside you should find instructions on how to turn it on and off. It may involve turning it off properly, then turning the dial to the ignition position, then pressing the ignition button and holding it pressed in and watching the pilot flame light through the little window. Then you release the button and provided the flame stays on you might turn the on/off dial to the normal position. Worth a look while you wait for more expert advice. Good luck.

More seriously, try googling for the model number and possibly the word 'instructions' or 'instruction manual' or even 'pilot light'.

Surprisingly effective for most appliances.

do you have a manual for it? It will show you where the pilot light is?

If not there is a glass window where you look to see pilot light (it can be square or round) it is normally in a panel that comes off boiler.. remove and there could be a reset button you hold while relighting pilot light.. if it goes out thermocouple is gone you need a gas engineer to replace that.

Thankyou. Go me super woman don't know what I did but I pressed a button and it worked haven't seen a flame I will investigate another day. Not touching it now it's working

Pretty much all boilers now have a lockout, with electronic ignition , sometimes they don't recognise the flames there and need a reset ....modern technology isn't always the best ....unless it happens a lot I wouldn't worry
