Casual sex is to blame.. And those that do not get regular check ups.
So you could put swingers into that as you could those that pull on a Friday night and never get checked.
If every sexually active adult got checked regular then it wouldn't be on the rise. |

I saw my GP the other week for the first time in years and having an informal chat he mentioned just how many young women he sees for sexual diseases.
I'm not sure if the lads are less likely to go or if there is just one stud going round infecting them all. ![](/icons/s/eek.gif) |

who's to blame would be those not using protection and those not going to get checked... quite obvious really.
Imagine swingers fit in to this category, just like those who go out up town and have one night stands constantly |

I think maybe there are large numbers of people in their 40s and 50s who are single and don't think that STIs apply to them
Not necessarily swingers but without looking at evidence from research I'm just guessing |

After seeing this thread I googled rise in sti and they are mostly saying the over 40s. To be fair that is the age range I have seen mostly not playing safe at clubs...
Apparently though there is also an increase in people knowing they are infected playing bare... And that is scary x |

be interesting to see what age group has increased the most
we all have a responsibility to protect ourselves and each other
Our son is at uni and the girls sound just as bad as the lads so maybe all colleges universities etc should have a screening program that sets us all off on the correct footing and makes sexual screening normal for later in life
In America i believe all students get hep jabs at least it's a start
I know it's not all down to the younger generation us oldies have done our fair share to escalate it , what I'm saying is if we start them early in life with screening or hep jabs maybe it would educate us to continue it throughout our active periods |

Am not convinced its more people getting STIs or that its better recording or just more people getting checked out.
I grew up in the 70s and unprotected sex was rampant as were teenage pregnancies.
We now have signs of teenage pregnancies dropping.
Without proper information as to how these figures are collated, its impossible to say what or who is to blame. |
