I've not had stones buy had hellp.
I agree, don't wait 6 weeks, see someone sooner.
Oddly I've found that by increasing fresh fruits like pineapple and mango and lots of fluids it helps. I have to be careful of the fructose but kidney pain isn't funny |

"don't leave it 6 weeks, get yourself off to a walk in centre today"
This!! Ring NHS 24 and ask them but I'd make an appointment with your GP as soon as. You've had issues previously, the specialist won't mind you ringing them to try and bring the appointment forward. |

Oh my! I do feel for you. I had stones about 10 years ago which went undiagnosed and untreated for about 6 months. The pain is worse than child birth in my opinion. After a 7 week stay in hospital, they were zapped (the stones) but my kidneys were damaged as a result. The kidneys do not regenerate and so damage is permanent. I am fortunate that this had no long term affect on me.
As previous op said, get yourself to the docs.

I went down gp route last time it took 8 months to sort , 8 months off pain every time I wee . Not fun , if I get worse I'll go straight to a&e . The one with urollagist ward . That's tip if every you get kidney pain don't go gp go a&e , as gp has to send blood test etc for you to see urollagist then you have too weight for appointment to come through to see him then he sends off for ct scan appointment . Go proper a&e they can sort u ct scan straight away , try go a&e hospital with urollagist ward or you could spend hrs waiting for a bed then they transfire u , |

Kidney stones are the most evil pain i've ever experienced, so i know painful they get. Since i had a major one 10 years ago, i find drinking loads of water helps me if i feel like im getting the start of the pain that comes with kidney stones. Seems to have worked so far for me. |

My Mum tries to get me to boil barley and drink the water its boiled in works to i am told by other people i just can't it looks like dirty dish water
I normally drink lemon barley juice . Cranberry Juice or pomegranate juice helps to keep me peeing regular as for the pain i just keep my back warm and sit as comfortable as possible rare bother with pain killers not keen on taking them really

After i had kindey stones for the first time, i looked up about them, and some researchers say it is one of most painful thing a bloke can have. |

If your in pain, call for an ambulance, or call nhs direct. They'll get you in, do a dip test for blood in your wee (sorry folks if your having breakfast!) they can book you for some lithotripsy, and get it sorted.

Had a kidney stone in August I also decided to see how it goes !!!!! Huge mistake. It ended up getting stuck and blocking the tubes resulting in hydro nephritis ( swollen kidney) and a two week hospital admission. If your in pain go to A&E today. Feeling for you worst pain ever which nothing but morphine can touch x |

If you know they're playing up now, then don't leave it until the pain is so bad you have to go to A&E. Anyone who suffers with kidney stones has my absolute sympathy but this is something where you know what it is, you're already in the system with a specialist and the pain isn't yet at really bad levels - on what planet does that constitute an emergency? A&E is for emergencies, not for situations where it can be prevented from getting that bad in the first place. |

Kidney stones or renal colic comes on suddenly. A urologist will put you on a non acute list if you not in an acute phase. I've seen grown men cry with this pain. I agree if you are not in the acute phase speak to your G.P. However if you are in pain seek help today |

It's just a way of getting round the system - when my GP first suspected I had acute IBS, he decided that waiting for 3 months to go to a clinic wasn't going to be much good to me and sent me off to A & E with a note, and I had a colonoscopy that afternoon. |
